Unless you like being treated like cattle to slaughter, don't bother going! The worst service I've seen & had in years. Firstly, I made the mistake of trying to order food at 11:53 and was turned away, saying I had to wait until noon to order food. Drinks only until then. Even after explaining I would be happy to order the 7 minutes ahead, then wait for the food as i had to leave my disabled husband to get back in line, "no next" was the answer! Also, couldn't leave the coffees then jump back in the queue so by the time I took drinks to the table then returned to order, the queue was out the cafe. If that's not bad enough, two elderly ladies that had tried to pay for self serve drinks at the checkout rather than stand in the long food service line were told they were jumping queue and sent to the back even though a minute later the staff yelled out, anyone with drinks only , pay here! When I finally got our food (after trying several times to clarify vegan as opposed to gluten-free to the staff) and check out, the woman serving repeatedly angrily told me to move my tray to the cashier even though she could clearly see there was another couple with their tray still there. She even reached across to try & push it herself while the couple tried to hurry to get out of the way! I was so distressed I started to cry & just wanted to get away with our food as fast as possible. I would have left it all but I was so worried they would start shouting. Never again will we go & we are letting our neighbours that recommend the place know how dreadful we...

However, the food isn't great. The paninis were not cooked properly and came with soggy bread. They rather bizarrely don't use proper (whole) milk for their hot drinks; they only offer low fat semi-skimmed milk, which makes it impossible to make proper milk-based coffees such as a cappuccino or latte as low fat milk doesn't ever get the right consistency or flavour.
It's a shame as the quality of the food and drink somewhat ruin what is a lovely venue. I'd pop in for a cold drink in future but nothing else.
Their card machine also makes you select how much you would like to 'tip' as a percentage; a bizarre American custom which I've never seen before in the UK. I certainly won't be tipping for self-service food in a canteen-type environment, very much not cricket.
Two easy fixes for management to make; remove the 'tip demand' at the till, buy proper milk and use that as the default for coffees. Soggy paninis will require further investigation of the cause before a solution can be...
Read moreVisited yesterday with my dog after walking there from Moreton, had not been since the cafe was extended. Nice choice of brunch items & cakes, soft drinks etc You now can’t bring your dog to the counter, little difficult when on your own. A very nice young lad ( from the cafe) very kindly held on to my dog ( now my dogs best pal 😂) while I chose items at the counter ( my dog is a Cockapoo & would have caused chaos left by the table alone). The young girl at the till directed me to the dog bowl & came straight over with water as bowl was empty & a treat for my dog. May Avocado, poached egg on Focaccia was delicious , as was the Rhubarb drink ( not seen this variety before) Thank you for making this a lovely experience after a nice walk through the fields & we...
