The Frogmill — Restaurant in Cotswold District

We chose The Frogmill as the venue for our weekend wedding on 8th / 9th September 2023. The Events Manager, Fred, made our planning experience extremely seamless as soon as he took over from his predecessor in January this year. I was apprehensive at first, as we were already 6 months into planning, and was worried things might get missed during the handover, but Fred was nothing but attentive from the beginning. Matt, the Manager, also helped us on numerous occasions over the months of planning, and whilst there were inevitably some hiccups along the way, he reassured us and did all he could to help. As an extremely picky and detail focussed bride (and a self-confessed control freak), I cannot fault the whole team from start to finish on the entire wedding weekend. They not only met, but exceeded all of our expectations and I honestly cannot recommend this venue enough. We had over 90 guest on the Friday night before the wedding and planned a drinks reception with pizza's and fish and chip cones. Everyone commented on how delicious these were, and although we only ordered 30 of each, it seemed as though the food just kept coming - so we were very impressed with the quantity and portion sizes! The waiters on the Friday were brilliant, ensuring that water jugs and drinks were topped up, and directing guests to the various places in the venue depending on their requirements. As the bride, I went to bed fairly early on the Friday night, but I hear the staff were on hand until around 1am - with one even bringing out all of the left over pizza to help those who had maybe had a bit too much to drink! Our wedding was on the Saturday and everything ran like clockwork from 8am when our breakfast was delivered to the bridal suite, to 12pm that night when the lights went on. Fred was on hand all morning, ensuring we had everything we needed in the bridal suite - he gave me his number and said if there was anything I needed then to text him, and on the few occasions that I did he text back instantly, dealing with each request perfectly. It was the hottest day of the year and the whole team were complete troopers. We added various "entertainment" to the wedding - a magician, a caricaturist, an audio phone box and photo booth - and these were all set up perfectly, in the right place with the instructions I had given. We also chose to bring our own cutlery, napkins, candles etc for the tables. We spent an hour or so on the Friday showing Fred how we wanted the tables set up - doing one together so the team could replicate it on all the others, and when I walked in on the Saturday, it took my breath away. The Mill Room was HOT during the wedding breakfast, but Fred had kept an eye on the weather all week and ensured that he ordered fans to make the room more bearable. The food was INCREDIBLE and we've had comments from our guests that it was the best wedding food they have ever had. We also gave our all 115 of our guests the option to chose their menu's, and although I was apprehensive that each guest having a different starter, main and dessert could get messy, the staff absolutely nailed it on the day and there were no issues or dramas. We looked at numerous venues and we chose The Frogmill for it's rustic and intimate feel - we didn't want anything pretentious, and as soon as we walked in we knew it was the one. We are from London and needed a venue with enough rooms for all of our immediate family and bridal party for the weekend. Guests commented that their rooms and breakfast on both days was fantastic, and there were also lots of comments on how beautiful and well kept the grounds were. We made and bought hampers and welcome notes with us for each of our guests rooms, and we said we were more than happy to do this ourselves, but Fred insisted the team would do it - and they made sure this was done prior to everyone checking in. I cannot thank the whole team, Fred, Holly and Matt enough. It was honestly the wedding of our dreams and my only upset is that...

We got married in April and we had THE MOST amazing day we could have ever wished for.

Firstly Fred, thank you for being amazingly patient with all my requests and changes and silly questions that I bombarded you with throughout the upcoming months leading up to the wedding. You were so lovely and from the first time when myself and Harry met you in person in November to have a chat, you made us feel so at ease and you were so personable, we really felt like we were in safe hands. You do an amazing amazing amazing job and The Frogmill is lucky to have you as their wedding coordinator. It was really lovely of you to have been through the whole process and then when you delivered the breakfast to the room the morning of the wedding once again, I felt at ease and it was lovely to see you in the morning before the chaos started 😌

Bea, firstly I wanted to say a huge thank you for dealing with my lateness the day before the wedding when I know you said you had somewhere to be! (I am always late whenever I go!! haha). I can't tell you how much I appreciated you staying later to make sure I was ok and had handed everything over. You were like an angel in disguise and literally took everything off my hands, I felt like I could relax as soon as I got there and I remember thinking that I haven't really explained everything very well, but you were so reassuring and I knew that I could fully trust you and the rest of the team. You were on hand the whole time and I really appreciated the hug when Harry and I arrived at our drinks reception, it's the little things like that that make all the difference and make the experience so personable and enjoyable!

Elliott, I remember the first time we visited The Frogmill a few years ago when we first fell in love with it and you were the person who checked us in. I remember from that moment myself and Harry just knew The Frogmill was the perfect place for us, and I think ever since we've been back to visit I have seen you everytime! Whether that is in the bar, behind reception or looking after a function. You are one talented multi-tasker! The room for the wedding breakfast looked like everything I had dreamed it would, and more. It was beautiful and everything was how I wanted it to look. I know you also stayed up late to finish the room on the evening before the wedding, and you made it look so so beautiful. I think it's hard to take everything in on the day, but I remember sitting at the top table and looking at the room thinking 'what an incredible job Elliott has done' - it was just chef's kiss :).

Henry - I didn't see Henry on the day of the wedding but again I just wanted to mention how well he looked after us during our menu tasting a few months before. He made us feel super special and he was so attentive but never too much, it was the perfect balance. It’s nice when someone feels like a friend too and that’s what he felt like, as did you all! The chefs also need a mention as this is what sealed the deal for us when we came to book the venue! The food is honestly incredible and we couldn’t believe how much food the chefs made us for our tasting evening. Every single dish was perfection (especially the beetroot risotto, which almost turned me and harry into vegans it was that good!! 😂). We also had SO many compliments on the evening buffet at the wedding, which people still talk about to this day!

Overall I just want to thank every single one of you, and the rest of the team I haven’t thanked individually, for making our wedding day the most special day of our lives, it was magical and everything we dreamed of and more 🤍 The Frogmill will forever be our special place 🤍

The most perfect wedding venue we could ever have hoped for, we cannot thank the whole team enough.

We got married in the middle of June with around 85 guests and every single detail was absolutely perfect.

From the moment we visited the Frogmill to view the venue we knew it was the place for us. The staff are second to none - so friendly, welcoming and helpful. The food is absolutely delicious - both in the restaurant/pub and the venue itself. The setting is STUNNING - the perfect cotswolds, countryside wedding.

Throughout the whole process Fred was my wedding bestie. No question was too silly and no issue was too big for us to solve. He had an answer for everything and was so kind and supportive, making sure we had what we wanted from our day no matter what. I honestly cannot thank him enough, without you our day would not have been the fairytale that it was!

We checked in the day before our wedding and had the most amazing time with the pub booked out just for us! Everyone was so helpful getting checked in, Sarah on reception was brilliant at making sure I had everyone correctly allocated to their room before we arrived so that we had a smooth process - she was so amazing at making sure there was no stress for us on the day.

Bea was phenomenal. She was all over the plans on the day, had everything we needed (including clear umbrellas for photos when it rained!!) and was the biggest ray of sunshine throughout the day - always smiling, always helpful, always there to help.

Everyone who worked there on the day was beyond amazing too. From the lads who opened the doors for me to walk down the aisle, to the team hosting the drinks reception and then later being behind the bar, to the army serving dinner and the incredible team behind it. Those who did turnaround and relaid all of the tables in a new configuration. And everyone who helped to clean and tidy up after us all!

The rooms are also stunning, always so beautifully cleaned and tidy, with a delicious breakfast the next day - probably the best I’ve ever had in a hotel!

As you can tell the Frogmill has absolutely wowed us and blown every expectation we had of our day out of water - and I am not an easy person to please!
