I absolutely loved this hotel! It embodies the classic, rich charm of the English countryside. The moment I stepped inside, it felt as if I had been transported into one of those British films I’ve watched countless times — a dream I’ve always had, and here, it came true. The manager was incredibly warm and welcoming. Shortly after I made my booking in March, I received a lovely welcome email. Then this morning, they thoughtfully sent me a message with helpful check-in information. Most importantly, they kindly allowed me to check in early — which meant so much to me as a traveler who just arrived from Melbourne. We’re still adjusting to the time difference, so getting into the room earlier gave us a much-needed chance to rest and recover. The hotel itself is full of character and charm. Every detail — the design, the cozy decor, the historic yet inviting atmosphere — made me feel like I was living inside a real English movie. One thing that especially touched me: when the manager heard we needed to leave before breakfast is served tomorrow morning, he kindly offered to prepare some complimentary croissants for us to take with us. It was such a thoughtful and generous gesture! In addition, the hotel is just a 6-minute drive from Burton-on-the-Water, making it incredibly convenient for exploring the Cotswolds. If you’re looking to truly experience the beauty and warmth of the English countryside, this hotel is an absolutely perfect choice. Tonight, I’ll also be dining at the hotel’s restaurant — and I’ll definitely update my review afterwards. But even now, I can already tell this will be a truly special and unforgettable English night.

Location ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Middle of the Cotswolds... enough said 😍 Interior ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Such a cute little pub, nice and simple decor but a very warm and friendly vibe. And it's dog friendly!! Exterior ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Driving up to the pub it just appeared from nowhere. There is limited options for parking and the beer garden was quite small (although in the rain that didn't really matter) Service ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ We were served by the most chilled and friendly host imaginable, all evening he was just superb. His character really made for an enjoyable experience Food ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ So the quality of food cannot be complained about. We had... - Sharing boards to start which had nice cured meats, olives and bread, I would have enjoyed some oil or cheese just to finish the boards but overall they were good. - Venison, Chicken, Beef Burger and Steak for Mains and they were all spot on! 👌 cooked perfectly and full if flavour. - finished with cheese board, chocolate marquise and ice cream. The ice cream was a bit frozen (as in icy and crunchy in places) but the marquise was actually a slice of pure heaven. Price ⭐️⭐️⭐️ The prices are a touch on the pricey side for me, the food is amazing but £9.50 for the starters and cheese boards just felt steep. Also for the money I would have enjoyed a bit of salad or coleslaw with the burger. Steak with sauce almost touching £30 isn't the most extreme but it isn't great value either. Overall ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I really enjoyed the evening, we had great company, great food and great service. There are a few bits that could be improved but honestly I would do it all again in a heartbeat 💓

Stayed overnight after a day in very nearby Bourton on the Water. The road I took to reach the Inn was very narrow but had lots of places to tuck into to let others get past etc. Fab views. At the Inn I parked with ease on the road alongside other cars. Told beforehand there are no parking restrictions or street lamps so if like me you pop to your car later on take a torch as it's pitch black. If like me you star gaze pack your binocs. I wasn't disappointed. Nice outside patio. Really nice interior. Very charming and welcoming. My room was reached by an outside door in an attached building steps from the patio and bar, up some stairs. It was set up for 2 guests although there was just me. I was impressed with my room. Dinner and breakfast were very nice. Clearly quality produce and reasonable prices. Good service. Pub was lively in the evening but the bar was not open late "late" like some places. So nice and quiet. I did mention at check out that I had no toiletries in my room and the owner was genuinely apologetic for their oversight. I had my own so not major for me. All in all a very nice experience. My emails were answered very quickly!

We received a warm welcome upon entry and was seated in front of the fire. We requested to be moved as the heat from the fire was too intense for us, the team member was very accommodating and moved us further away. We asked the member of the team what was on the sharing BBQ platter, she was quite vague what this included. We went ahead and ordered as we had previously read the description on the website, also ordering mussels as a starter, the mussels were delicious. Our platter arrived and we had also ordered a portion of fries, it also said on the menu that the platter was served with with salad, which we did not receive, we spoke to the team member about this but this was offered half way through the meal. The platter consisted of 5 Chicken wings, a very small rack of ribs, which consisted of 5 bones, corn and peppers. This is also very curious, how do you divide 5 wings and 5 bones amongst two people this was at a cost of £30. This is extremely expensive for a few wings and a very small rack of ribs. It was cooked perfectly but not what you would expect for 2 people. We spoke to two members of the team who smiled, agreed with us and did nothing. This pub has a nice atmosphere, but we were deeply disappointed at the amount of food at a cost of £30 and believe this problem should have been dealt with in an appropriate manner, hence the one star.

Thank you for your response but unfortunately we have now returned home which is a three hour drive. Shame no one tried...
