I don't give 5 stars because nothing's perfect, and, there's always something that can be improved, anyway, this Pub is a fantastic place, you can smell the History in it, the good food and the surroundings. Meals are great, i had half a chicken on my first visit to The Trout Inn, being Portuguese I'm a bit picky/demanding when referring to grilled chicken, but this one was cooked to perfection, and i was happy with my choice, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, fully recommend. Today (29/05/22) had a beef burger, the first option from the burger section on the menu, thick burger, medium rare as i like it, 3 nice onion rings and a leaf of lettuce, taaaaasty burger, came with a portion of chips, good quality also. Can't wait to try the salmon. The staff are very friendly and go the extra mile to keep the Costumer happy. Thank you for charging my phone 😉🙏🏽 Animal/dog friendly pub, with a big beergarden, equipped with a big tent, and heaters, and a nice view over the Thames. Generous car park, and a massive overflow carpark, usually with caravans and camper vans. Fully recommended this Pub, it's a relic

A very old establishment and it's history well documented. But more up to date the pub is on the Cask Marque Ale Trail - and deservedly so, the ale was in excellent condition. Met my son and his partner here for Sunday lunch, each of us travelling some distance for the meeting. The meals served were as good as the ale. The day being warm and sunny, the waiting staff had no scruple about coming outside and finding us by the river bank. This is a very rural and scenic location, on the banks of the Thames, with lovely countryside and is patronised heavily in these conditions. The management seemed bemused by the conditions of us dining here - the Cask Marque accreditation being the reason. It was worth the effort and good memories of the place endure. A star is lost only because the place seems so shambolic (the gents loo for example is a black painted corrugated iron affair, which blends not well with the fine old stone of the main buildings) and they really could do with a decent groundsperson - the riverbank area and car park could do with some tlc.

A lovely country pub set beside the Thames. There's a well maintained garden beside the river, so if the weather permits, it's a really very nice place to sit and enjoy a beer or two. There were only two real ales on, a very good Hook Norton and sadly a Doom Bore. There's plenty of excellent local breweries, so I think they could do better than plump for a Cornish beer, if it's still brewed there. We ate in the bar, and there was a nice selection on the specials board as well as their usual stock menu. The portions were very generous and well cooked. I'd recommend this pub all day long. We just happened to visit on the day of a steam fair, so it was busy, but the staff coped well and service was excellent.

A lovely sunny day which made it very busy and chaotic we sat down at the table outside looking over the river and the boats very very pleasant so we went to order some food on the app which took ages to download then became a bit of a challenge ordering so we ordered with one of the staff very pleasant and they were run off their feet we did wait a little bit of a time but was all ok in the end. After being offered and we did laugh, 2 cups of coffee 10-minutes later a big plate of food10 minutes after that some drinks all of which was not ours, then our cheese salad bap turned up was an experience would I go back yes they just need a new system for ordering food.

Second time we've been back. When we first visited back in February it was wonderfully cosy and we thoroughly enjoyed our evening especially as it marked a special occasion. We returned with our 5 year old daughter and dog for a very tasty cooked lunch, but with the beautiful weather was able to take advantage of the canal backdropped garden. Only suggestion would be to install a few wasp traps out there, as we were forced inside by the little pests but that is of course no reflection on how lovely this little pub is. We look forward to returning.

Great looking proper pub at a super location It was a very hot weekend. We camped on site having canoed / kayaked down river . Walked into to a cool 😎 flagstoned atmospheric hostelry . We’re treated to free samples of “ Inch “ cider 🍺 as the saying goes give them an Inch and they’ll take a .,…. Needless to say the evening went well food tasty and locals harmless and hospitable. Thanks for making our stay special. You have a great pub 👍don’t change one thing . X
