We had a table booked for 7pm and arrived at about five past, the table wasn't ready and we had to stand whilst they laid one for us. The restaurant was very dark only lit by the light coming in from the street through opened blinds and some small spot lights in the ceiling and candles on the table, one got the impression that they were trying to save money on the electricity bill! Service was quite prompt with drinks and Poppadums on the table within 10 minutes or so. The food was okay although my partner described the Jalfrezi as raw tasting and very hot. the main dislike was the very loud music being played all the time, mostly Indian pop music, which someone kept turning down and two minutes later someone else would turn back up! At times it was difficult to hear what my co-diners were saying. The restaurant was quite cramped and several times a waiter bumped the back of my chair whilst trying to squeeze through to another table. For £84 for 4 people eating only mains and one pudding and 4 pints of Cobra, a shandy and 2 G&Ts it wasn't too over priced. The food was appalling - the wife and I ended up sharing my lamb balti which was just passable - the sauce only with some naan bread. The meat in the balti was fatty and hard.
The mixed grill is laughable as it contained a few pieces of dry, hard meat and the wife's chicken tikka was so red i thought they opened up a can of red paint and put some chicken in it.
There was also a hair in the so called "free" portion of something. It was scribbled on the lid and we had no idea what it was!!
Breaking news: the wife has just informed me she has just felt sick in the bathroom. Just awful - felt like I was eating a child's attempt of a curry from a bad home economics class.
Just don't do it to yourself - your body deserves better! Coventry deserves better! This is...
Read moreWe had eaten there a few years back and it was lovely, BUT we ordered from them yesterday and my god it was hands down the worst curry I've every had,
Firstly the curries themselves were very very watery and it was filled with really small chunks of meat - The sort you would find in a frozen burrito, To be honest everything looked and tasted like it was frozen and re heated as it was just super watery and plain,
Secondly the Naan - Tell me how the picture ive uploaded is meant to be a Keema naan, It was burned with no meat what so ever - just a red paint sandwiched between two paper plates,
Oh and thirdly they got the order wrong but to be honest not having an item was the highlight of the order,
Please Rupee lounge fix what ever has happened, as you were once a really really nice place too eat at ....But now id actively tell people...
