We have been regulars to this Harvester over the past decade or more and tonight we went to order like we always have and share the salad as a whole one each is too much and we had a young man serving us, he came over to take our drink orders and was acting pretty cocky, it took 20 mins to even get our glasses and when we ordered our food he told us we couldn’t share the salad, it was one meal one salad, ok we have never been told that before so my partner said he wouldn’t have the salad, our cocky waiter said he was going to charge us as we said we was going to share, we reminded him we said we wouldn’t share he said he was charging us anyway because he didn’t believe us, I asked if one of our normal waitresses was there as she is very experienced and we weren’t happy with this waiters manner towards us, he snapped at us ‘really’ and walked off, the deputy manager came over and said we had to leave for being rude to the waiter, we wasn’t he was lying’ we got up and said that we were regular customers and spent a lot of money that but now we wasn’t going to as the restaurant had gone downhill to which we was told to never come back, don’t worry we won’t especially as we had an incident with the deputy manager where he ignored my special request (I am disabled and need certain seating) he said well they don’t have to honour it. We won’t be back as we don’t tolerate rude, lying staff who discriminate against...
Read moreAs I am vegetarian, I ordered the Camembert and Cherry Tomato Tart, which is my usual choice. A big mistake as the last time we visited Flamsted and I ordered this, I told the waitress that it needed to be sent back as the outside pastry was burnt. She was new that day and said she was surprised that it was deemed to fit to serve.
Yesterday was much worse: not only was the outside pastry burnt, but also the cheese and tomato on the top was completely blackened. It was also supposed to be served with jacket potato, but chips arrived with the order. We were not told when ordering that jacket potatoes were unavailable.
I took it back to the bar and asked for a refund as everyone else would have finished their meals when mine arrived. I spoke with the Manager who said that she would speak with the kitchen. The point is though that if a meal is not acceptable to be served, the kitchen should not have plated it up and the waitress should not have served it. The cost was 13.99 for a very small burnt tart with a minute container of chips, which I did not order.
I have ordered this meal at the Harvester in Swansea, and actually remarked to them how much better the meal was there than at our local restaurant at Flamsted. The cheese was soft and the tomato and pastry not burnt, in fact, how it should have been.
It was a truly awful meal. I wish now that I had...

I recently visited the Harvester St Albans for my mother’s birthday meal, and unfortunately, it was a huge letdown. The only bright spot of the evening was our server, Honey, who was pleasant, thoughtful, and did her best to make our experience enjoyable. If not for her, the evening would have been a total disaster.
The menu has been updated since my last visit six months ago, and while the prices have increased, the quality of the food has noticeably declined. I ordered garlic bread with cheese, and what I received was simply a pitta bread cut in half with melted cheese on top. In what world is that garlic bread? It was utterly ridiculous.
There were four of us dining, and sadly, not one of us enjoyed our meals. The food was disappointing, and the bill came to just under £100. Honestly, I wouldn’t have paid £60 for what we were served.
Overall, the best part of the night was Honey, our lovely waitress. Everything else was just depressing, and it’s clear that the Harvester has gone downhill. I won’t be rushing back anytime soon even if...
