We have been regulars to this Harvester over the past decade or more and tonight we went to order like we always have and share the salad as a whole one each is too much and we had a young man serving us, he came over to take our drink orders and was acting pretty cocky, it took 20 mins to even get our glasses and when we ordered our food he told us we couldn’t share the salad, it was one meal one salad, ok we have never been told that before so my partner said he wouldn’t have the salad, our cocky waiter said he was going to charge us as we said we was going to share, we reminded him we said we wouldn’t share he said he was charging us anyway because he didn’t believe us, I asked if one of our normal waitresses was there as she is very experienced and we weren’t happy with this waiters manner towards us, he snapped at us ‘really’ and walked off, the deputy manager came over and said we had to leave for being rude to the waiter, we wasn’t he was lying’ we got up and said that we were regular customers and spent a lot of money that but now we wasn’t going to as the restaurant had gone downhill to which we was told to never come back, don’t worry we won’t especially as we had an incident with the deputy manager where he ignored my special request (I am disabled and need certain seating) he said well they don’t have to honour it. We won’t be back as we don’t tolerate rude, lying staff who discriminate against...

As I am vegetarian, I ordered the Camembert and Cherry Tomato Tart, which is my usual choice. A big mistake as the last time we visited Flamsted and I ordered this, I told the waitress that it needed to be sent back as the outside pastry was burnt. She was new that day and said she was surprised that it was deemed to fit to serve.

Yesterday was much worse: not only was the outside pastry burnt, but also the cheese and tomato on the top was completely blackened. It was also supposed to be served with jacket potato, but chips arrived with the order. We were not told when ordering that jacket potatoes were unavailable.

I took it back to the bar and asked for a refund as everyone else would have finished their meals when mine arrived. I spoke with the Manager who said that she would speak with the kitchen. The point is though that if a meal is not acceptable to be served, the kitchen should not have plated it up and the waitress should not have served it. The cost was 13.99 for a very small burnt tart with a minute container of chips, which I did not order.

I have ordered this meal at the Harvester in Swansea, and actually remarked to them how much better the meal was there than at our local restaurant at Flamsted. The cheese was soft and the tomato and pastry not burnt, in fact, how it should have been.

It was a truly awful meal. I wish now that I had...

Disappointing Birthday Meal - Only Good Thing Was the Service

I recently visited the Harvester St Albans for my mother’s birthday meal, and unfortunately, it was a huge letdown. The only bright spot of the evening was our server, Honey, who was pleasant, thoughtful, and did her best to make our experience enjoyable. If not for her, the evening would have been a total disaster.

The menu has been updated since my last visit six months ago, and while the prices have increased, the quality of the food has noticeably declined. I ordered garlic bread with cheese, and what I received was simply a pitta bread cut in half with melted cheese on top. In what world is that garlic bread? It was utterly ridiculous.

There were four of us dining, and sadly, not one of us enjoyed our meals. The food was disappointing, and the bill came to just under £100. Honestly, I wouldn’t have paid £60 for what we were served.

Overall, the best part of the night was Honey, our lovely waitress. Everything else was just depressing, and it’s clear that the Harvester has gone downhill. I won’t be rushing back anytime soon even if...

This is my first eat out since this lockdown and harvester flamstead is close to my home first the welcome was warm friendly and easy we sat outside in the beer garden and had a salad to start off it was well presented and the lettuce was nice and crisp I had cheese sauce on mine glad I did was really pleasent I know the menu was going to be short it seemed to be mostly burgers so I ordered the classic the brioche bun was a great idea as it holds well but my top bun was a bit over cooked but was fine there was a good amount of chips which were golden and crispy perfect the burger itself was 6oz juicy and delicious 😋 my mrs had the scampi which she really enjoyed we went away feeling full so happy chappys the staff were very caring for our needs and covid 19 was adherd to the atmosphere was pleasent too well done harvester I will be doing a re visit soon and I hope next time it's a 5 star rating 1 star was lost due to the bun lid being slightly over done brioche buns take a smaller amount of time to toast than ordinary burger buns

It was closed until mid-day. They used to do a good breakfast once. And a convenient location. I do like the place when its open! Update: Visited a few days later in the evening. Good points, they have the vegan menu, which I hope is here to stay. And this branch has a better atmosphere than most. The vegan burger tasted pretty good! Presentation could have been better, and the lettuce inside was feeble. And for £12??? Ah yes, you also get as much salad as you want and can add whatever lettuce, tomato, cucumber and various sauces as you like. Perhaps it's not too steep. So why am I sticking on 4 stars? Well I'm afraid the toilets let it down rather badly. The pictures don't do justice to the smell. One was marked "out-of-order". The working one only had a seat that wasn't attached and no paper. Come on guys!

Sticky, Filthy Menus ✅ Floor covered in dropped food ✅ Standard items on the menu unavailable ✅ Staff chatting amongst themselves instead of cleaning dirty tables ✅ Staff swearing Infront of customers ✅ Having to ask for service after a +15 minute wait (despite being nearly empty) ✅ Salad Bar almost empty and a complete mess ✅ Self service drinks screen covered in food smears ✅ Undercooked, sub par food ✅ Toilets out of order ✅ If the 10 things above don't bother you when going out to eat - then you'll probably love this place. Honestly, where are all the adults!? To be clear, yes. I know "this is a Harvester". I didn't have high expectations to start but had hoped at least to leave full? But even as far as harvesters go - this one is easily one of the worst I've ever experienced.
