Having used the pub for over thirty years, I’ve never know such a rude manager in all that time. Food took over an hour to arrive, yes it was Fathers Day, but when asked where it was we got a rude sarcastic reply. We were a table of 8 but other tables were also complaining. When it finally arrived our chips were cold, again I got a rude response, unfortunately she got one back too, which I’m not proud of!! The waiting staff were lovely but so run off their feet. It’s basic management, if you have a busy day planned organise before hand or explain to customers the problems. That way the customer has a choice of whether to stay etc. we were not advised at time of ordering of any wait time for food. Unfortunately I was told this was an issue and the manager was rude before hand, but let’s be honest we all try and give people the benefit of the doubt!! I was told by one member of staff, that staff were being rang to come in, but they were not answering their phones. Tbh not a surprise, if the landlady is as rude to her staff as her customers then they won’t want to help her. It’s an estate pub, with many regulars, the bread and butter of any establishment!! Unfortunately if the landlady carries on as she is she will have no clientele left, except the odd lunch or dinner users. One consolation, if you can get past the wait and the rudeness, the food was actually nice!! The Top is a hard pub and needs a confident and experienced manager in place. Maybe the company as a whole should accept some responsibility too, as they’ve obviously put someone in place without...
Read moreSo where do I start we are a family of 7 and decided to come here for dinner everything was fine to start as we was sitting minding our own business the tables are small so we pulled a empty table over and joined them together as no one was using it and it was not busy in the garden. When a drunken local come over not social distancing and told us we was not allowed to move the tables together and offered to buy our dog we politely said ok thanks if they ask us to move the tables we will, the drunk local then told the staff on us like a little school kid the stuff lady then come over and asked us to move the table as its only 6 to a table and we said we are a family of 7 and was rudely told to spread out between both tables as we are only allowed 6 to a table govement orders when I told her that starts on Monday 14th September she then told me well we have started it from today (sunday 13th September ) but wasn't to fussed when a group of approx 15 people where sitting on the other side of the garden but yet we wasn't allowed to sit together after the table of drunk locals then continued to laugh and take the mick and was using bad language throughout our stay. The food took ages and even then some stuff was missing and when we questioned it the staff said it dont come with that when it clearly says on the menu it dose so as for my experience here today I will not...
Read moreWent to the top of the world today bank holiday Monday it was very quiet. We like the top of the world but the only problem is the food takes forever to come out. I was told there was a 30 minute wait today which is fine ,but a hour later , I had to go and ask if they had forgotten us, there was only two of us. I could’ve cooked it myself in 15 minutes. The bar staff went to check and come back and told me it won’t be long now a few more minutes ,sorry about the wait but it is really busy tonight. I looked around to the nearly empty pub and said , it is not busy.
I was told yes but there are people in the garden, so I took a look and there were four people. It’s not the first time we’ve had a very very very long wait for food when it is not busy apart from that, I really like it and the food is okay, today my fish and chips was very very dry. Must’ve been under a hot plate for a long time. The only thing that puts me off going back again the very long wait when it’s not busy. I’m not sure what the chef is doing. I think he must go for a sleep between cooking. When it was slightly busier a couple of weeks ago, we waited nearly 2...
