Cute little cafe, which also contains the village post office.

As mentioned several times before, service was quite slow. We arrived at 2.30pm and were keen to order hot food before the 3pm cut off point. The cafe wasn’t busy (only one other table was occupied) but we had to wait for around 15 minutes before a staff member came to take our order.

My daughter-in-law and I just wanted cakes, but my son wanted hot food, and the staff member questioned whether or not the kitchen was still open - which was when I pointed what was written on the menu, as well as the fact that we’d been waiting for 15 minutes to be acknowledged. She agreed and we ordered.

I had the Apple Crumble with ice-cream and although it wasn’t the most aesthetically appealing dish, it was delicious. My son and daughter-in-law also enjoyed their food.

Despite the slow service I would still visit here again. The staff member we spoke to was lovely, and I have no complaints about her at all. Maybe the kitchen was winding down (hence her initial response) but if we’d been served more rapidly our orders would have been in half an hour before the...

We're on holiday and decided to visit this said café. We were instructed that no dogs are allowed inside,in this day and age they are in the minority but we did what we were instructed and found a table outside. The 2 teas came out in plastic pots? now we're considered to be well behaved pensions and quite capable of handling proper tea cups! If that wasn't enough we ordered 2 pieces of cake to have with our tea(in a plastic cup) The cake was served to us not on a lovely plate but in a cardboard box!!! If we had decided to go to McDonald's maybe you could expect this type of services, though not calling McDonald's at all. Next time we visit this lovely little village we will go round the corner to the cafe that you and your dog are made welcome. Our bill what was a lovely lunch was £56 ,take note Beresford and can you afford to lose this amount of money just because of one beautiful black lab that lays under the table and nobody knows she's there. Maybe there's a lesson to learn .I understand stand that is your policy but maybe it wants looking at. By the way the cake...

The cafe itself is both cosy and quirky. We thought it'd be just the place to take my mom. The food was tasty with good size portions. Sadly the service was absolutely shocking. We were sat at our table a good 10 minutes before we were even acknowledged. When we finally did get served, it took an age for our plates to be collected. A lady came and took them away. We were expecting her to come back and ask if we wanted cake/dessert. She didn't. A gentleman had been sat nearby and he had to go and shout them from the kitchen for service. I wouldn't have minded if it had of been busy or if they seemed short staffed, but there were only a couple of people on and staff seemed to be wandering in and out aimlessly. We went and stood at the till to pay and then went to the Hartington Farm Shop/Cafe for dessert instead. Quite sad really, but we won't...

Fabulous tea room in such a cosy place. We went on a Saturday so it was pretty busy, we got some ice cream first which was delightful and then moved onto a Bakewell cake, coffee, hot chocolate and a cheese and pesto panini. As we turned up just after 3pm, they stopped serving hot food, however, they accommodated to us as we wanted a panini and the press was still on which was so lovely of them. Everything tasted fresh and flavourful. The staff were really accommodating and kind. There were little candles and honey/ gift bits which was a nice touch.
