Treated like a thief! We are a family with 6 children who don't often go out to cafés for obvious reasons. It's too expensive. However, it was Mother's Day, and my place of choice. If we do go out I (mum) usually deal with orders as I find it easier stop remember who has what, and to keep the price down we often share. However, on this occasion I had nearly lost my voice so Dad did order. When first part of order came to the table I when asked I said it was for us ( 2 milk shakes, knowing milk shakes was part of our order) after leaving the drinks, my husband said, he thought he'd only ordered one. We were going to clarify when the other 5 drinks and cake came. However, in the mean time they came back, said we'd only paid for one and just took away from our young child his milkshake. We felt this was not the best way to deal with a mistake, after all they had made a mistake too, usually one assumes the order brought out is what you've ordered.

On leaving we said thank you for the drinks, but felt the mix up could have been handled better, on which they basically implied it had not been a mix up b intentional taking of what we had not paid for. Our intent had been to point out the mistake and offer to pay when the rest of the drinks were brought. He was very rude, accusatory, and also said he cared nothing...

I'm reviewing you as a 5 star because your potential is just that.

Your location, the deco, so cute and quirky.

We called in last Tuesday. We were camping at a site just down the road. The weather wasn't the greatest so we just wanted some nice food and a hot brew. When we arrived and asked for a menu your staff looked a little confused and we was told you just served sausage / vegan rolls and the cakes that were in the counter. I had seen some reviews of the bacon sandwiches, toasties etc and was really looking forward to sampling.

We still stayed and ordered. I opted for a cake for breakfast 🙈 and a mocha and my partner tried the sausage roll. What we had was beautiful but we just couldn't understand why there wouldn't be abit more choice. In the time we were in quite a few walkers popped in asking the same as us about hot food / menus etc and left without ordering anything.

Your venue is beautiful. I would love to return if we were in the area but would like to see abit more choice.

Wishing you...

Took my friend here for lunch today as a birthday treat. It was our first time here and the weather didn’t look favourable for such an exposed spot however, the sun came out and the clouds parted right on time. Booking the table through Instagram was a very pleasant experience and the friendly staff couldn’t have been more accomodating. They’d reserved the table with the best view for us and oh what a view! The cook/ owner Nick came to chat and was full of interesting facts about the history of the building in relation to the viaduct in the valley below. Our food was delicious- mixed veg, feta and hummus toastie and a posh fish finger sandwich for my friend followed by tea and cakes that were so delicious that I bought a treat to take home. Whether coming for lunch or calling in for a hot drink/bacon butty after a walk on the Monsal Trail, this is definitely worth a visit. We look forward to...

Hobb's cafe overlooksa wonderful panorama and has quite a history of providing refreshment at Monsal Head - now primarily to cyclists and walkers on the Monsal Trail ( up to 8.5 miles between Bakewell and Wye Dale) and a number of other routes. It previously served to house those overseeing the building of the railway on that route, then an estate gamekeeper lived there. It now provides home made lunches and teas including oatcake and quiche with great filling flavours. It also hosts a small art and craft gift shop with a wide range of cards, some local maps / souvenirs and a range of good quality gifts. A lovely place to visit, even if you're not on one of the many footpaths and bridleways that can lead there.

Disguised as a row of cottages behind the Monsal Dale Hotel, this cafe is quite visually interesting and quirky inside. I had never realised that it is a cafe until today as there's no obvious signage. The service is excellent and friendly and the building itself has a cheery feel to it. There was a steady stream of customers while I was there. It's not surprising because many people visit to admire the spectacular scenery and walk the Monsal Trail. I had gone to try to get some images of the area, but unfortunately, the light was very bad, so I did what you do in such circumstances and went for coffee.

Perfect place for rest and refuelling after @Monsal Head walk/hiking/biking, great coffee and homemade cakes, locally sourced lunch/dinner meals. Two car parks (don't forget loose change as parkomats coins only, 1.50£/hour). Ideal spot for people with restricted moving as straight from car you can spend hours watching valley bellow. Been here many times and will back as never get bored. And just short drive to Bakewell 👍
