Excellent, comfy rooms that are spacious enough to allow for a couple of smaller armchairs. 2 of the rooms look out onto a quiet courtyard that seems to be for residents only and is a bit of a suntrap but let me tell you about the pub. Situated at the top of the village at the end of a no through road (so it's quiet and parking is not a problem ) this stone built Inn is predominantly food based, serving 7 days at lunch and dinner, booking is definitely advised or a long wait could ensue . It has a well stocked bar that's open all afternoon and evening. WiFi is available should you require it at no cost but that's where the electronics stop. No jukebox ,gaming machines or imported entertainment here just conversation. Food is of a very high standard and, while not cheap, is not overly expensive and worth every penny. (On average £20 will just about cover 2 courses depending on your choice ) . If accessibility is a concern the pub can be accessed by wheelchair at the front door only, the accommodation which is to the rear of the pub, so not affected by late night revellers, involves stairs however approached. Drinks -far too much choice to list all that are available from cask ales of a good standard to wines and spirits, even a real cider, say no more! And to top it all off they'll even let your dog in. (And your kids as well ,I'll let you decide if that's good or bad )

Stop press - I have recently discovered that the accommodation is no longer available as of 1/1/18. Still worth a visit though if you happen to be...

Really nice traditional pub. Enjoyed a few pints of Birra Moretti in here. Really nice lively pint, clearly well maintained lines and pumps etc. Had a meal in here. Chips were a very good size portion, which I can't praise enough because portion sizes of sides in many pub grub places are becoming very disappointing. The church in however, had a big bowl of really nice homemade chips that tasted fantastic. My Mrs had proper food which she enjoyed but I'm all about the chips. Service was fantastic. Only seemed to be two teenage girls working in there but both were a credit to the place and seemed more experienced and hard working and better at their jobs than most of the barstaff I have ever experienced. Food and drinks were delivered quickly and even though it got quite busy whilst I was there the place ran smoothly and everything was ship shape.

In summary, really well run pub with great pints, great food and...

This was our last pub visit of the day, after doing a peak district tour of pubs & villages. It was around 6.30pm & we were getting a bit hungry & driving down country rds on our way here....Sorry sir no tables left, so we had a quick drink looking at where to go instead, but this place was top of our list with great reviews & 4.8 * The landlord came over after a few minutes, probably feeling sorry for us & said I can squeeze you in, someone's left early. I ordered the salmon in white wine sauce & vegetables, the wife ordered leak & mushroom au gratin...omg....food to die for, the salmon was the best I've ever tasted & veg lovely too. The Mrs said hers was absolutely delicious aswell, compliments yo the chef.....Great pub, great location, will be...

Lovely pub, great location and worth a visit. I had lamb moussaka. It was presented in a smallish bowl on the plate. There was little in the way of taste, lamb mince and abverguine, and it was bulked out with potatoes!? favour was ok. My partner had fish pie, again, baby prawns was her only gripe, plenty of fish and nice flavours. Pudding were, summer crumble and custard, and bread and butter pudding, both were lovely. Other meals coming (burger) out looked epic. If I was local, I'd try again. Nice staff.
