Super friendly quaint old Derbyshire pub that we've driven by so many times and didn't venture in, what a mistake that was🙄 We called today 'just for a pint' and were really pleasantly pleased by the hospitality, choice of drinks and the superb meal we rounded off the evening with Fresh locally sourced ingredients cooked to perfection leaving us quite stunned tbh after some very lacklustre pub outings of late. Fish and chips in the lightest crispy batter we've ever had, a lovely lean tasty burger with homemade chips, and a shared fig based sticky pudding made personally by their regular chef of 10 yrs These guys are doing it so right when so many seem to struggle with the basics We are sure to...

Gorgeous food and a great selection of real ales and ciders. I'm really fussy when it comes to eating out and I think that may possibly have been the nicest pub lunch I've ever had! Perfectly cooked and seasoned chips; a beef and ale pie that was freshly cooked and full of tender meat (not a piece of fat or gristle to be found!) and rich gravy with perfect short crust pastry; rich and meaty extra gravy, and a selection of tasty vegetables. Yum! Would've tried the puddings but I filled up completely on just the main - perfect portion size! Friendly staff and good character. Toilets were clean and pleasant and even had emergency stash in the ladies. Would recommend and will bear in mind if we're...

Two of us visited the Red Lion for Saturday lunch. The pub is a typical traditional country pub. The food is exceptional. I had the pie of the day which was beef and green pepper . A real pie with light, short crust pastry accompanied by tasty mashed potato and a nice selection of veg. All perfectly cooked. My wife had the burger, sourced from very local beef, accompanied by home cooked chips and a generous salad. She pronounced this the best burger she had ever had. All of the staff were really friendly and helpful. The chef even came out of the kitchen to check that all was well. This is the sort of establislhment which needs encouraging. We will...

The Red Lion pub is a very local village pub offering locally and famous made cider’s with several choice and many years of awards. Their restaurant is also very busy on many of the days but do book up if your thinking to eat there as tables are limited and Sundays is only half day food. Don’t forget closed Monday and Tuesday’s Call to book a table is best idea if you plan to eat here especially if camping or staying locally. The Red Lion is also very popular with the local of the village and always pleasant to have a conversation to catch up with walks and the area. Well recommend and is now a key place in my to “return again”

We were staying at Milk Maid Cottage up the road and we wanted some quiet time whilst grandparents stayed in with the kids. It was a great, small, cosy, village pub. Great local atmosphere. People behind the bar were friendly, welcoming and attentive. The food was amazing! Best we have tasted. Food fell apart and melted in the mouth! Even the chef and landlady made an appearance asking everyone how their food/drinks/stay was which is a bonus. Will highly recommend to anyone staying local or passing through!
