Traditional pub in a lovely setting serving excellent pub food at a good price. The staff were welcoming and friendly, and a big thanks to them & the chef who managed to fit us in for meals even though we were after the cut off time on Fri and again when they were already fully booked on Sat. (Should have pre booked early I know!) Both meals were great. We stayed in the campsite at the rear of the pub using the pub, which has all the facilities you need (shower room, washing up area, water, electric hook up & use of the pub toilets - basic but adequate and clean). A nice peaceful site surrounded by lovely places and great for walking. Will definitely try to return.

What a great place, stayed there 2 nights in caravan, price per night really good with electric hookup. Pub itself is small so need to book for food, all the staff are really nice n friendly and the food is to die for, it's superb, proper chips, not out the bag, melt in the mouth fish, hot double spicy chicken burger, game pie, sausage of the week which changes, also has Quorn option, Belgian waffle n ice-cream with toffee sauce, apple crumble n custard, good portions sizes aswell. Couple of real ales on also which change, pub is also dog friendly ( not that we have dog ) . Will definitely be returning.

Parked opposite the pub and went for a lovely walk up Biggin Dale and over to Hartington (really pretty - well worth doing). After that this was a lovely place to spend a lazy couple of hours with a beer for lunch. The food was standard pub grub, scampi & chips, lasagne, fish pie etc. All perfectly fine, nothing to complain about. The garden is a good size, easy for outdoor eating. Reasonable selection of beers - 4 casks - in reasonable condition. Service was slow but competent and friendly, and they have a one-way system for getting to the bar. Well-signed and everyone was obeying it.

We stayed here on the campsite and ate in the pub as a set of friends with campervans. It is in the perfect location for trekkers to the dales with a lovely quiet campsite behind the beautiful old pub. The service was excellent - ringing up to arrange it was easy, reserving places for 5 campervans and and evening meal for 12 people. We turned up on the day and the service was excellent - finding us places to stay that suited us as a group and ensuring everything was as we wanted. There was hard standing for the vans and lovely grass between - you will need to have ramps as they are mostly on a small slope. The facilities are basic but well maintained with showers and toilets plus washing facilities. The pub is an ‘old’ type run by a lovely family going a family atmosphere with seating inside and out. The food is typical pub food but the quality is excellent and the service great also. The costs were excellent value also, @ £20/ night on the campsite (incl. electrics) and £15-20 per person for 2 course meal including drinks (beer/wine). We had a wonderful experience here - fully...

We stayed in our touring caravan on the small site situated at the back of the pub. Each pitch had a hardstanding with a grassy part beside. The grass was rather long and needed cutting. Our pitch was right behind the pub and was not very level. There was a reasonable space between pitches with plenty of room for an awning. The pub had Covid security in place with a one way system and hand sanitiser at the entrance. The toilets were cleaned very regularly. We didn't use the showers as we had our own but other members of our party did. There was a booking system so that they could be cleaned in between users. We didn't eat in the pub so I can't comment on the food. When the weather was good the beer garden was very busy. This is certainly the place to get away from it all as we had no TV, radio or phone signal. The Tissington Trail is just up the road as are several other lovely walks. We had a lovely Bank Holiday weekend walking our dogs, reading and listening...

This is our little hidden jewel! I have been camping for years and never found a place like this, from the beauty that surrounds you, the lovely locals and the owners- well what can I say! They go above and beyond to make sure your stay is perfect from bringing food to your tent, taking people to the other village near by at night because they were having such a good time in the pub they stayed until it was too dark to walk back!!

Excellent amenities- hot showers (with a heater inside for added comfort) outside wash facilities that are clean and hot running water, very clean toilets no matter what time it is!

I might add that this is a small family run campsite and what they achieve I’ve not experienced in much bigger sites! They are always booked up which tells me that they are doing everything right, don’t take my word for it- get yourselves there and really experience the beauty of our...
