4/3/17 mums 70th birthday party.
We were a party of 17 and we have visited the mill on numerous occasions and we have never found a fault with the service and food. Last night there was 2 staff behind bars and two serving food . My first round of drinks was for 3 and was charged 9.68. I got same drinks again and was charged 11.58 same bar person. We ordered food and was told a wait of 45 minutes. I ordered 3 meals and two came out and then some of the rest of the table came out 5 minutes later mine came out a mix grill mega. A sausage was hard couldn't get fork into it. The chicken and gammon and the steak was on piled on top of each other the egg was hard. On arrival we was meet by a bar man who came from behind the bar and not a front of house staff as we normally was greeted by. One bar staff appeared to be struggling with things because the other bar man had to help him out at times whilst serving too. For a Saturday night when we have gone it's been heaving but not last night because when we left at 8.45 there weren't many left in public also a bar person was going home. I've never seen it so poor and as a person who as been several times will not be returning any time!!!!! . One of our party who also was a regular said he as never seen it so empty and seen so poor service also another member of our party they had to question one of their meals because thought it came out with more then what was on the plate. The service was poor compared to normal and the food wasn't excellent service that it was. Would have been one star but some...
Read moreWent to the Scawsby Mill on 6th of December, was greeted with a friendly person who sat us at a table for two and took a drinks order, we then sat waiting for our food order to be taken which I would say took half an hour. A waitress then came to take our food order and We were told that because they were busy there would be a 45 minute wait which is fine,It’s Christmas! we never saw the waitress again and a couple that came in after us was then given their food, which we thought was very strange, so we did ask a waitress where our food was and was told it would be here soon. My husband then went to the bar to get a drink and she asked him what table he was sat at because she couldn’t find us so alarm bells rang then as he said to her we are still waiting for our food which she went to find out where it was, a waitress, then came and said that our food order hadn’t gone through, and if we would like to order again which we refused. Personally there wasn’t enough staff on duty there were two waitresses to serve the whole of the pub and restaurant when my husband went to pay for the drink. He then asked to speak to the manager as this wasn’t good enough, and he was told, I am the manager, I will look into it! No apology!! The only apology we got was from a waitress that wasn’t actually our waitress. So all in all, not a good experience for us and we...
Read moreThis restaurant actually merits a 3.5 out of 5 stars. Had we not experienced a number of service failings, it would've merrited 4.5 stars. My fiancee and I are visiting good friends here in Doncaster. We're from Canada. It was our first evening/dinner out and a first visit to Scawsby Mill - including my friends. While perusing the tap beer selection, the manager graciously offered me some free samplings. We all ordered the Wednesday dinner special: Curry with a pint - except our friends daughter - and the meal was superb. Unfortunately a) my 'clean' tableware still had food on it, b) the daughter found a hair in her meal c) the waitress promptly acted upon it but then failed with the follow-through; we'd all finished eating when the daughters fresh plate finally arrived! Another apologetic waitress assured us she'd 'make it right', went to refill our order of drinks, then failed to return. Our first waitress, now more apologetic, retrieved our drinks. These several service faux pas' cost the Mill almost 12 pounds - 'making it right'. Would we revisit the Mill - yes! Hopefully, they'll have properly dealt with these service incongruities by...
