From the outset the whole experience went downhill. Firstly this establishment is promoting the cashless society and only card is taken. We were seated at a table where the till was behind one of us and customers and staff were frequently dealing with bill payments which was off putting. The table we were allocated was also right next to the Ladies toilets this became problematical for us when a queue of 5 people were waiting to use the toilet one person with a child kept the door open for the duration of the use of the toilet and then proceeded to keep the door open for the rest of her family. This was not only unhygienic but off putting when trying to enjoy the meal and all you can hear is a toilet flushing and hand dryer. When it came to choosing desserts we were advised in advance that one item was not available so chose another option only to be told the second choice was also not available! To be told once of an unavailable item was one thing but to be told of a second unavailable item was the last straw. Plus the waiter advised of an item not on the menu which was actually being passed off as Elton mess when in fact it was the ordered pavlova! Whilst we were there we witnessed a female staff member eating from a plate in public view. The manager has since clarified the waitress was on her break, my review was what I saw as a customer. Perhaps it would be more appropriate and to avoid any confusion if staff were to clock off prior to picking up their lunch and ate in a designated rest area so the wrong message is not sent out to the customer. We decided this was a step too far and left. This pub has been around for several decades but this visit...

We went to eat on Sunday and I have to say the food was really good and it was really nice to be seated in the terrace. However, I found in general that the management was a bit chaotic. When we arrived we found out by people on the queue that we had to wait 20 minutes to be able to order some foods or even drinks as the place was full. We didn’t mind to wait and we managed to speak with the manager who inform us that she will let us know when we were gonna be able to order. The manager later start taking orders from everyone but she didn’t approach our table, she looked at us several times and she was aware we were waiting. She didn’t even bring the menu as she did with other clients. She took order from all of the tables and even brought the food to them. I was quite shock about this. In the end we have to call her for her to be able to take other from us. When I order Sunday Roast she told me I wasn’t allow to order that as I didn’t make a reservation. I was quite disappointed by this, I have never been in a pub that they said I can’t order Sunday roast if I don’t have a reservation. I think the restaurant should add a note on the menu if this is the case. I have to say the other waitress were quite...

Myself and my partner have been working in Canterbury so we decided for a Sunday treat to come to the beach and have a Sunday roast. This place is gorgeous. Right on the seafront. We were immediately seated by a lovely lady. We received menus and the waitress came back to take our drink and food order. We ordered a drink each, a starter each and a main. We waited a little and no drinks, waited and our starters came which were absolutely fantastic. We had finished our starters but still no drinks. I appreciated they might be busy so we just mentioned to a waiter could he chase them up. I think we waited 10mins mins and I went inside just to enquire. They were chased up again, but then our mains arrived and drinks finally followed about 5mins after. The roast itself was absolutely delicious and so filling.

The staff were lovely and polite, my only qualms was waiting so long to have a drink. I do understand problems happen, orders are perhaps missed hence we was not rude about it but we did have to enquire 3times. Reading the reviews and having been ourselves this place is absolutely wonderful we just wanted to...

Cycling from Deal to Folkestone, I chose to stop at the Coastguard Pub for sustenance. The staff were all happy, friendly and very willing to answer questions. I did not want to sit within the restaurant, I wanted to sit on the beach. I asked to have my food to take away, which the waitress said she could do for me (I ordered a sandwich so this was easily wrapped). This made my experience much better because I wanted to sit with my headphones in, and watch the sea, rather than alone at a big table. I also made use of the facilities whilst there and they were clean and smelled good. The food itself was lovely. I had a bacon, brie and cranberry jelly sandwich. It was warm, tasty and filling. I ordered and paid for a bottle of water, to take with me for the rest of my cycle, it turned out they'd run out of the bottle size I wanted, the waitress refunded me and filled my cycling bottle up from the kitchen. I very much appreciated this brilliant customer service, which went the extra mile. Thanks to the staff at the Coastguard for a pleasant experience. I will definitely return.

have to admit that I was expecting more from this place. Well cant say its bad, cant say its good. Great view, free parking, nice terrace but the food we had was not so good. We tried a soup of the day, carrot, tasteless, presentation was nice though and the bread that came with interesting. The burger was well.......nothing, no sense, I mean some meat without taste, literally the mince had no taste, maybe this is their style of not adding any spices, the bacon gave some taste to this burger. The handcut chips okeish but combined with the burger very very dry. I rate this burger plate very bad. The fish with potatoes, well, not good neither, tasteless, some sauce on the top of the fish and rucolla and cheap mayonnaise(like the one the restaurants have in a 5kg container). Both plates very dirty, like they just gave them a rinse and bye bye. Price? Well, not cheap not expensive, double. Considering the place is famous for being the closest to France, a nice place to visit. Didnt have any drinks so I cant say anything about this. Food, bellow average.

One of the best things we did during our London vacation was take a day trip to Dover, and the Coast Guard Pub was the perfect ending to a fantastic day. We rode the train from Victoria Station and toured the castle in the morning. At the recommendation of the helpful castle staff, we then hiked the awe-inspiring Cliffs of Dover to the town of St. Margaret's Bay. There, we had dinner at the Coast Guard Pub. A little chilled from the windy cliffs, we started with curry soup, which was freaking delicious. While famous for their fish and chips, we just ate them the night before. Instead, we learned that since it was Sunday, their menu featured a British tradition of a roast with crispy potatoes, root vegetables, gravy and Yorkshire pudding. That’s what they’re realty known for. We also enjoyed a variety of UK craft beers, and our waitress even arranged for a taxi to take us back to the train station in Dover. The service, the food and the view at the Coast Guard Pub were each more spectacular than the other.
