Came here saturday after going to wingham wildlife park. The lady on the phone was friendly and gave us some advice about road closures and the best way to go. When we got there we were met by the same lady who was friendly and served our drinks promptly we ordered food there and then. Unfortunately there as quite a wait for the food but once the starters came they were out of this world. Generous portion sizes and great value for money. The mains came out about an hour after. The wait times between food was my only quarm as the food and staff was lovely. Im sure there was a reason for the longer wait times and we will definitely be back without a doubt.

Lovely place. Pub was excellent. The Caravan park and the Caravan we stayed in was brilliant. Our granddaughter's loved the place especially the ducks. We also got to see a bit of history with the boat that went to Dunkirk to help with the evacuation off our brave military personnel during World War 2.

Lovely traditional pub. Excellent food and massive portions ! A great garden for a meal on a Summer lunchtime with very competitive prices and much better value than comparable pubs in Broadstairs, Ramsgate or Margate. Cod and chips for under £14. A pint of Cruzcampo for £5. Same for a glass of wine.

I have been going to Dog and Duck dor quite sometime. Booked a table today at 6pm for 5 of us. When we arrived we were told we did not have a booking because the latest time was 5.30pm. When I showed them the telephone call miraculously our booking was found for 6pm. Thankfully they had honoured our booking. The food was delicious as always, but we ordered the mixed Roast which was supposed to come with 2 Yorkshire ours only come with 1 which we raised and about 5 minutes later we were given the extra Yorkshire. My biggest gripes

  1. When I asked for the desert menu, I was told that the kitchen had closed and we could not have desert!!!!!!! No one even came over to ask if we wanted dessert as the kitchen was closing.

  2. When we went to pay I was asked if everything was OK which I replied no we couldn't have dessert, the barmaid said that's because the kitchen was closed, I then said that you took a booking for 6pm she then accused me of being aggressive, and said that the booking was taken by mistake, she obviously has had no experience with aggressive people as I certainly was not aggressive. I paid and left the building in disgust. One of my party then heard the barmaid tell the landlady that I was being aggressive. Well Landlady I not was not being aggressive at all. We did not make the mistake one of your team did, if I had been told when I called I would have reserved an earlier time. It is a shame as I really enjoyed going to the dog and duck but certainly will not be coming to you. Since you have taken over you have changed the bar staff and it seems the new staff may need customer service training. The old bar staff were always friendly and really were...

Really disappointed as the reviews are really good, this is not the experience we recieved last night! I am wondering if the summer and winter menu are different? However none of the dinners we received were any good, burnt, flavourless, stodgy and undercooked! Were the remarks around the table, the waiting staff friendly but inexperienced, no one came to check on how our food was so could not report our issues, I think the staff may have got this from the still full plates taken away, again still never asked how our food was, the cutlery and glasses were filthy, as was the toilet facilities, cobwebs, insects everywhere, floor and toilets clearly not cleaned.

However we did order desert as taken my elderly nan out who excepts the standards as she never gets to dine out and was her wedding anniversary without her husband, so we joined her in her desert wish, we were absolutely blown away with the top quality and taste of all of the deserts! Absolutely beautiful! The only complaint would be that before 6pm at night there was not a full desert menu on offer, but can not fault the quality of the deserts, shall return just for deserts in future, maybe the summer menu will be/was better, the venue is lovely with its gardens, just needs...

On arrival we were warmly greeted with enthusiasm by the bar staff and we were promptly shown where to sit.

The menu was clean and easy to understand with a decent selection of food items catering for pretty much any dietary requirement. There is a footnote on the menu about speaking to staff if unsure about anything.

We ordered the food and during the short wait, we notice the room was nice, clean and tidy and the table spacing was generous.

Shortly after placing the order our food arrived and it was nicely presented in abundance.

We were asked if we needed anythibg such as condiments - standard practice but often overlooked these days.

The food itself was well cooked very tasty and plentiful.

The bill was good value for money and quality.

All in all, we found our experience at the Dog and Duck to be excellent. From arrival to departure we felt valued and welcome.

I will most definately visit again and I may even take a few of my...
