The Lamp Room — Restaurant in Dover

It is unfair to give it a 1 star as we didn't have a chance to taste the food. But the table next to us who was 'lucky' enough to get the food told us that their burger was raw inside so I think it won't be far if I gave a 1 star. We entered the restaurant at 11:40 and ordered at around 11:45. At 12:15 a lady came to our table and said that due to the system issue our orders were not received at that time and we have to order them again. As we had the activity booked at 13:00, we expressed our concern to the lady and she said that our order was in priority and should meet the schedule. At 12:35 we still cannot have any and we approached the same lady again. She came back from the kitchen and told us our orders still were in the queue and there was nothing she could do about it. She offered that we can talk to her supervisor and we have no choice but accepted. Of course we got the same result and the supervisor said there were 5 orders still ahead of us and we had to wait 15 minutes more. At the same time, the table next to us got their dishes, but they were of course ordered much later than we were. All of us were starving and we had no time as our coming activity would start soon. We were offered to wait, come back after the activity which was 3pm or got the refund. Our only option was to leave as they said 15 minutes but you never know what surprise was waiting for you. Perhaps it was our fault that their system had an issue such that we bore all the consequence. But if I were the restaurant manger perhaps I would offered some quick food like cake or sandwiches or whatever to the customers first to fulfill their needs, or maybe at least to the kids. After an initial rough start to our first contact with the restaurant, which resulted in an unhelpful telephone call with a membef of staff, we were called by Mia, the manager of the restaurant, who could not apologise enough. She was warm, friendly, and helpful. As a result we were able to have our questions answered, book our table. We attended the restaurant on Easter Sunday where we received a warm welcome from the friendly and smiley staff who keenly took our order. We ordered the meat feast/platter, which was a roast dinner platter for 4 people. It was plentiful, with quality produce and very well presented, which the family agreed was a lovely Sunday roast, enjoyed by all. The gravy and condiments complemented the meat and veg well. The turkey subsandwich was also well presented, with roast potatoes and gravy. It looked and tasted great and was suitably filling. We also had 2 children's meals, which were great. Overall, thanks to Mia and her thoughtfulness, also to her friendly team, we had a very pleasant and quality meal that was truly appreciated by us and our family. 🙂 we will visit again and will recommend them...

Yesterday my family and I had the worst experience at the lamp room. We have been a number of times before and had a great meal with amazing staff. Something has changed drastically. I ve come to know since our visit that the lady who was holding this place up with her professional and warm manner is on maternity leave. The staff yesterday were very very rude not willing to accommodate requests. They had no idea what they were doing. They argued with us. The food came it was disgusting again argued with us. We cancelled the order paid for our drinks and left. Which in my eyes we should not of done due to the disrespect and treatment we received from the so called staff. One member of staff said I'm new here I know as much as you .... Do you not train your staff ? We have never been to an establishment where we have been treated so badly. Whilst there another couple got up and left so it wasn't just us. We will not be returning such a shame as was a great place before when you had professional staff who were warm and friendly and knew how to work within a busy restaurant establishment.
