Visited yesterday for our annual Christmas meal. We usually go somewhere locally to us but we decided to try somewhere different. Well….what a mistake that was. The food was very poor, I had the set Christmas menu priced at £35 and it was not worth the money. The roast meal was made with frozen items, the roast potatoes were just like those that you can buy a bag for £2.00 the parsnips were cold and hard, the gravy was so watery. The service was not great, we had to keep going to the bar to request more drinks. This was one of the worst meals I have had in a very long time and we will not be visiting again. You should ashamed serving poor food and charging such a high amount. Luckily the company was good otherwise it would have been a write off. I will never visit this restaurant again. They advertise a wide selection of craft ales but have only one in a bottle, none on draught. All in all this was disgraceful. I have only given one star as no stars is not an...

Got seated in an area that was not set up due to a private booking (which seemed to take priority) cramped seating and dirty tables all around. We had no communication on whether we order at the bar or if it was table service, we then went to the bar to order only to be told it was table service. It had been 15 minutes since being sat. Starters came out and honestly were lovely, however the mains were disappointing for the price. Both were dry and not much taste apart from the taste of the burnt garlic bread and chicken. No check back was given to us or the surrounding tables. When went to pay the bill and asked if we would like to leave a tip, the girl did not look impressed when we said no. As managers of a restaurant we always ensure to tip however we would not expect to be given a tip had we offered this service to guests. After wanting to come and try the restaurant for a while we were disappointed and feel that the restaurant has far much...

Great pub, great helpful waitress. Meal was fine. Unfortunately a fund raising band was on when we visited on Sunday 12th Dec. Which wasn't explained when we booked. Great music and singer but way too loud for people trying to have a meal. We all had to put in ear plugs and grandson sitting with ear defenders on. Asked waitress if could be turned down a little, she checked with the manager and he's said no it couldn't be turned down. Honestly when staff are having to wear masks it's difficult enough to hear one another. Just cannot understand why music could not have gone down even one notch. You could hear clearly what was being sang outside! I don't even think the singer was approached to be honest. The waiting staff were absolutely fantastic and did all she could, but I feel the manager should have approached ourselves and the singer, I'm quite sure they would have obliged. Will definitely think twice about returning which is a shame as its...

Wow Elizabethan you pulled out all the stops. Staff could not have been more helpful, and efficient. It was our Abbeyview outdoor ladies night. 16 of us, and every single meal was faultless. We are a fussy bunch, and their was never a quibble. You did everything that had been requested, and on behalf of the ladies, who then went onto a show. A very big Thank You. Not only did you make a great start to our night. You have earnt more new customers, and voted another booking for next year. Please pass this onto your staff, at Halbeath. You can be very proud on a night when they where fully booked. We thank you.please to say been back again this year, and can only congratulate the staff again. Brilliant 18 of us this time and only great comments. Thankyou

Overall Thoughts: in Dunfermline Scotland for a High School Field Trip. Obviously as an American we LOVE food! We had some time before we returned to Edinburgh and needed some dinner. I’d give this place a 4.5 out of 5. Friendly staff, great food, great atmosphere! 1. Restaurant Type: Bar & Bar Type Food 2. Coke Or Pepsi: Coke 3. Ketchup Type: Heinz 4. Price/Value: affordable 5. Atmosphere: Bar/Burger Joint 6. Food Quality: Good Quality 7. Service: Friendly Staff 8. Parking: NA 9. Must Haves: we were with a big group so our options were only Lasagna & Macaroni and cheese. The lasagna was actually very good. The macaroni and cheese was good but nothing special.

Sadly a very bad experience. Food took more than an hour to arrive, and the pub wasn’t even half full. Staff are mostly nice, hence the two stars instead of one, but the rest was terrible. Long waits, forgot our order and food was very bad. Green beans that looked like they were 2 weeks old. Chicken with chorizo had no chorizo and it was drenched in jam (so was the salad and the sweet potato that goes with it), so it was extremely sweet. Still, chicken was extremely dry. Most dishes we ordered were underwhelming. Beef burger was over cooked and had no flavour. Mac and cheese is ok, but that’s about it.
