The Village Inn — Restaurant in East Cambridgeshire

Nice food and friendly new landlord and staff. With a pub as small as this you either have to dedicate it towards food or sport and pub games, as there isn't really room to do both. It would appear that they have opted for the former and taken the pool table out and not gone for the big screen setup. I had a very nice meal there. Filthy dirty room. Room nothing like the picture advertised. Dirt on the sheets, duvet wrinkled, nothing matched, towels worn and hard, smelt musty, stained dirty carpet, stairs filthy. Extension leads drapped everywhere. Curtains hanging off the rail. Cancelled breakfast, if the kitchen was as clean as the room I believe we would have been ill. Food was well prepared and a good price. The staff and service were lovely, beer, which I couldn't have because I was driving, was Timothy Taylor's Landlord - om nom nom. It's a proper village pub and on a Thursday lunch there was a decent number of customers in so clearly I wasn't alone in being impressed.
