My partner and I recently visited The Dovetail Café, tucked away inside The Antique Village in Hele, Devon, and it was a real gem of a find! We each treated ourselves to a slice of cake, which was absolutely delicious. I had a rich, comforting hot chocolate that was the perfect pick-me-up, while my partner really enjoyed a smooth and perfectly prepared Flat White. The atmosphere of the café is warm and welcoming, fitting beautifully with the charm of the Antique Village setting. A special mention must go to George, a member of staff, who was extremely friendly and made us feel right at home. His genuine hospitality really added to the experience. If you’re exploring Hele or browsing the antiques, I highly recommend stopping by The Dovetail Café – it’s the perfect spot for a coffee, cake, and a touch of kindness.

The coffee and snacks are alright, but you come here for the ambiance or because you're exploring a maze of bargain antiques. Totally a fun place to spend some time chatting, reading, whatever. The space is really interesting, welcoming, and fun. The coffee, if I'm honest, is merely alright - better than a Costa or a Pret, but nothing special. The staff are friendly, and easily confused. We got our coffee order wrong, but it was quickly corrected. They were flummoxed by getting a £20 note for a £9 order, and two of them working together sweetly offered £21 in change before we corrected them. It was charming, and we'll be back.

Cozy cafe with a mix of sofas, chairs and tables on theme for an antique shop. They provide paninis, scones, baked goods, hot drinks, a soup of the day and pasties and sausage rolls. We arrived shortly after opening on a weekday at which time options were more limited. The sausage panini and cheese scones were decent and the Devon chutney served with the scone was especially good. The coffee was similarly decent and the hot chocolate was frothy with a strong sweet chocolate flavour. The staff were very friendly and served up the drinks then the food to everyone at the table at the same time.
