The Hind — Restaurant in East Devon

We were staying down in Hawkchurch for a friend's wedding and were recommended The Hind by the staff at our hotel to eat at - wow it was one of the best recommendations ever! The service and welcome from the staff at The Hind is absolutely lovely, such nice people and a friendly warm cosy atmosphere. We had some drinks while our table was being prepared and when we ordered the food that arrived was so delicious - unlike any pub food we'd ever had. Visited here last week while on holiday. They have an entry in the CAMRA good beer guide which is always reliable. The hosts were friendly and welcoming and we booked a table for a meal. Theres plenty of room in the restaurant and we didnt have to wait long for our food. Theres a good selection on the menu and they had a specials board too so plenty of choice. Have to say the food was very nice. Cant forget to recommend this place for the excellent ale too and I counted at least three independent ales on offer. Swung by the Hind on our last night of a 7 day visit to the area and wish we’d found it sooner. Great atmosphere - we arrived just before 6pm and were greeted warmly and offered a drink immediately as we walked in. Our dog was also made welcome with a water bowl and a treat. The staff were so warm and welcoming and the food was great and extremely reasonably priced. If this was our local, we’d feel very lucky! The pub filled very quickly as good pubs do, so worth booking if you want to eat. We intend to be back next summer and will definitely come back...
