Unfortunately my close family members used The Farmer Inn today to hold the wake of their beloved dad/ grandad. After the funeral when we arrived at the the farmers inn we were met with nothing but Hostility and pure rudeness. The buffet food which apparently catered for 50 people wouldn’t of been Adequate to feed 10 children , so how they thought 50 adults would of been fed beggars belief. What little food was on offer was a selection of Icelands party food mini pizzas/quiches. The tea & coffee station was just as bad , with myself asking for fresh cups & coffee pot to be refilled only to be told quite abruptly by a female member of the bar staff “yeah I will” after standing at the bar for at least 5 mins I had to ask again to get some fresh cups , seems like they were way to busy and more interested in taking money over the bar. I have seen other family wrote a review earlier and the farmers have come back and responded with utter nonsense saying that the package was booked for 50 but over 100 people turned up ……… I’m actually shocked at the blatant lie !!! The staff are really rude , obnoxious and showed no sympathy at all abs I’m no uncertain terms are totally racist. I will be totally honest in my review and think the only reason we were treated like this is today is because we are from the travelling community …… when the bar stopped serving drinks after happily taking our money for over 4hrs proceeded to tell us you have to leave now as we have to serve “ORDINARY PEOPLE”. !!!!! We knew that we had to leave at 5pm when booking but to be treated and spoken to in such a derogatory manner is unacceptable - there was no apology on the lack of food , no offer to try and resolve the issue , but they were more then happy to serve I’ve r the bar and for the mourners to pay and order meals because everyone was starving. It’s just total disrespect that close close family members my uncles daughters to be exact had to deal with this on top of just laying their elderly father to rest. It just caused added stress to the day that was no needed. I would never ever go back to The Farmers Inn.
RUDE / POOR QUALITY...
Read moreWe recently visited The Farmer Inn in Waterlooville and had such a fantastic experience that I felt it deserved a proper review. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel welcome — not just us, but our dog as well. One of the best things about this pub is that it’s truly dog-friendly, which makes such a difference when you’re looking for somewhere to relax with the whole family, including four-legged members. Our dog was greeted warmly and settled right in, which instantly put us at ease.
We decided to sit outside, and I have to say, the outdoor area is absolutely lovely. There’s plenty of space, the garden is well-kept, and the whole setting feels peaceful and inviting. On a sunny day, it really is the perfect place to enjoy a meal and a drink.
As for the food, it was excellent. We ordered the battered fish and chips, which came out piping hot with a beautifully crisp, golden batter and fresh flaky fish inside — exactly what you hope for with a proper pub classic. We also had the steaks, which were cooked perfectly to order, juicy, and full of flavour. Everything was presented nicely and tasted fresh, with portions that were generous but not overwhelming.
The staff were attentive and friendly throughout, always checking in without being intrusive, and the service felt genuine and welcoming. Combined with the great food, relaxed atmosphere, and dog-friendly approach, The Farmer Inn really ticks all the boxes.
We’ll definitely be coming back soon — highly recommended for anyone looking for a great pub experience in...

My wife and I visit here a few times a month on average and find its a really excellent pub. The food is all-homemade on site and is really excellent, we chat with the owner/chef and he is always proud of the fact he puts real effort in (although the hours seemed crazy!).
This is a Fullers pub so you know what you are getting, being an old Gales pub there is HSB on tap + London Pride and one seasonal beer. They have the normal list of larger incl. San Miguel.
The pub has two bars and you can dine in both. As you enter the bar to the left is smaller and has a TV screen for live sports when then are being shown. This is not obtrusive so don't let this put you off! The main bar to the right has more dining space and there is a snug at the far end.
They have had some recent refurbishment and this has improved the facilities (toilets etc..) greatly. We have always found the staff very friendly and happy to go out of their way for us.
The pub itself has regular events such as band nights and in the summer they have a few charity events, which seem to be...
