Nice pub with more of a classy feel in a nice area with 2-3 bar & seating areas wrapped around central bar, smallish car park. We went there for a funeral reception recently, so there were quite a few of us so relatively busy, I didn't like that every time I went to the bar, I was completely ignored & none of the staff recognized I was waiting or wanting to be served, not even acknowledged, even when there were No customers on one side of the bar, they just busily bypassed me. Only when I returned my glass through a collection hatch, I got a glance. There was a man at a coffee machine who'd taken lots of orders via a ticket system & he was running very behind so long waits for a cup of coffee, I couldn't even get a glass of water without a friend being more assertive. I wanted to ask about where I parked my car, in front of side door, as carpark was full but there was no-one available to ask, staff running about. Then I got blocked in by a van so had to find owner to move it please to let me out.
After I gave a 4 * star rating, before I've had time & been asked by Google to return to post this review, The Fox & Pelican, replied gratefully to my 4 star * rating & said thank you but could I reply via email, what they could do better to gain that extra star ~ that's what I would say, for staff to recognise when customers are wanting to gain...
Read moreCame to The Fox and Pelican for my Saturday off and paid for the bottomless breakfast ! What an amazing weekend ! The brunch was organised by Lauren (the manager) and was amazing ! We listened to Emily Martine sing a variety of Soulful and modern songs which got us all going ! We were served by Sine, she was amazing ! It’s quite easy to feel ripped off at bottomless brunches but Sine ensured we were constantly topped up and got our full moneys worth. Couldn't be happier. Thoughtout the day we were also served by Ellie & Kiwi ! They are both staff that mostly regulars seem to be aware of , always going above and beyond for their locals! Grayshott is an amazing village and it’s no surprise it’s won village of the year multiple times. The Fox & Pelican adds to this and ensures an amazing village is matched with an amazing local that tends to everyone. With a variety of acts performing for the bottomless brunches , I will definitely be returning ! £35 is genuinely a bargain ! Would also recommend the pub quiz hosted by Stephen, amazing atmosphere , his voice resonates throughout the pub and he makes it so exciting. From, a happy new regular...
Read moreThis review is based on a recent beer festival in ‘25 and two previous visits in ‘23 and ‘24. The Fox and Pelican should be terrific. It’s a Fullers so I would expect decent well-kept beer. Sadly, out of the 10 pints I’ve had in here across 3 visits, I’ve returned 2, tolerated most and enjoyed a couple. The actual range is predominantly Fullers and one local-ish beer. Hophead was good but the Sundowner was ho-hum. Amber beers are hit and miss. Somebody took their Pride back to the bar - not a good advert for the brewery that owns the pub! The food has been OK on both previous occasions though so that’s a tick. Garden is lovely in good weather, but only if away from the noisy playground and smoker’s area. Staff have generally been very pleasant and the loos are clean. It won’t win awards for the beer or the cider but as a local hostelry, it just passes muster. There’s a far better Fullers two miles south. The aforementioned beer festival was limited to lower abv and seasonal brews. The best condition beer was served up independently in the garden space by Maverick Brewing - which tells...
