Having arrived without booking the day before and finding the kitchen closed we booked to return for Sunday lunch. Thank goodness we did. Cannot fault this establishment. Whilst woefully understaffed we were looked after royally by the charming discreet waiting staff. Ordered whitebait and smoked salmon starters. Both excellent. The roast beef, unusually all 3 of us ordered the same. was ridiculously tender and sourced locally. The accompanying vegetables and Yorkshire puddings top notch. Too full for desserts we ventured outside as the weather was glorious only to find a country n western singer setting up so instead of trekking home on foot immediately we stayed and enjoyed an unexpected bonus. Eventually givinng into ice cream and sorbet. The selection of beers is terrific our son can tedtify to this, the Rioja we chose sublime. The couple who run this pub damn wish I had checked,so welcoming. We have visited before but only on hikes Will definitely return, plan to book a big group lunch following another hike but treat ourselves properly with rest of the gang Oh and some friends ( vegetarians) were on another table and didn't fancy the veggie Wellington, why? So chef cooked something off the menu, sea bass, especially for them and it was delicious. Thank you for a...

Read moreThe Prince of Wales is an excellent pub which is in the Haslemere area. Plenty of parking and adjacent to many walking trails, it is set in a rural location that has lots of charm.
There is a great selection of beers and there are frequent "guest ales". The food is the standout. You can tell it is all freshly prepared and there are lots of choices. They also can do gluten free which is helpful as my son is gluten sensitive. The staff is excellent and there is seating both indoors and outdoors. Finally, there is a playground and it is dog friendly.
