At last, quality!
This place has just raised the standards in the local area. Beautiful bar, lovely restaurants which have recently been refurbished, tables nicely positioned in clean and modern dining rooms. On arrival we settled for a Aperitif In a beautiful bar with stunning old fire place. Friendly attentive bar staff. I could tell then that this was going to be a good experience! The restaurant was just a perfect ambience during our Sunday lunch. The staff attentive and showed care and attention to our table which is a demonstration of quality. A gentleman even remembered my daughters name on numerous occasions and made us all feel so, so welcome. This makes the difference, a real difference in business today. The Sunday lunch roast was freshly cooked, quality and flavour-some tender meat ( todayβs choice Beef, Pork or Lamb), fresh vegetables and extra gravy. My dessert of apple crumble was homemade, crunchy crumble, not too sweet and the perfect size portion served with cream, custard or local Dennets Ice Cream. A bottle of Rioja poured for our guests. The ambience during our meal was sublime. So good I will be booking a table again this week and am looking forward to supporting this business with my custom in the future. Beautiful drive to Skendleby, lovely village. Absolutely worth a detour, however make sure you book because this place is going to be popular We will be...
Β Β Β Read moreWe visited here over the Christmas holidays whilst taking a short break and our first time in Lincolnshire.
The main reason for choosing this venue was that my partner was really craving some traditional fish & chips and this place looked like it could be our answer.
We were expecting/hoping for something reasonably decent, but WOW!
The Haddock & chips with mushy peas was out of this world!
Honestly the best fish & chips meal we have ever eaten EVER.
The fish was perfectly cooked, batter was crisp and not greasy, chips were also cooked to perfection.
The fish was obviously very fresh and actually tasted like fish should, it needed no salt & vinegar on it or anything else.
Not only was it top quality in terms of taste, it was a big portion too. In fact we did order a starter of prawns which was delicious but was unnecessary as the main meal was so filling.
Staff & owner lovely people, great ambience.
Great value for money and a lovely pint of Batemans too.
Overall the best meal we had in Lincolnshire, would give 6 stars if possible.
Thank you guys & gals at the...
Β Β Β Read moreThis is an absolute gem of a find which was highly recommended via the β Nextdoorβ site. Itβs a traditional village pub that retains itsβ atmosphere with plenty of space for all.. & sympathetically retained for β regularsβ.. there is a lovely toughened glass well which within the area leading to the main dining area . The main dining area is spacious & airy overlooking great viewsβ¦ The menu has a wide range of starters mains & desserts, all cooked from scratch using locally sourced products. Great portions & you can really tell the fact that theyβve been freshly prepared, covering all dietary needs. The childrenβsβ menu is excellent too. The lady who tended to us ( Sarah?) was knowledgeable, very very welcoming & attentive without being too pushy ( i.e not continually asking if everything was alright/any more drinks etc). She even provided a colouring book & crayons for the youngster in our group. An all round delightful...
