What a building, stunning. We were stuck to find a camping spot as our arrival time was too late at our planned site. We contacted this place and asked if we could park our camper in the car park and pop into the pub for breakfast the following morning. Sure! Was the reply. The car park is huge huge in a beautiful spot. The following morning we headed into the pub for breakfast. Wow! Amazing food. The staff were excellent ! We sat outside, table for 5 and our dog. The garden area is beautiful with a play area for the kids. Kids playing, full English breakfast, sun shining and lovely cup of coffee. What a way to start your day. The coffee was a little small and I didn't notice if refills is part of the price, I would have liked more. But that's the only comment really. The building itself is worth a visit alone. Beautiful ! Extremely old and traditional but equally extremely modernised to an exceptional standard without impacting the history of the property. Its been a licence pub since the 16c! Incredible. We'll be back. Thanks again team. 👍 Oh and it's also worth noting that this place has recently been taken over by new owners ( just before Covid hit). I met them. Really nice genuine couple. So please bear that in mind when reading older reviews as prior to covid it was a bit of a joke of a place. Since then completely new staff, menu, building and atmosphere. Go, you won't be disappointed.

With a friend after visiting my Brothers grave so arrived 1600 Sunday Today hoping for a meal on our way back to Boston. We were told the kitchen was closed but opens again at 1630 so 1/2 to wait ok we will have a drink. 1630 my mate went to order food off the menus we’d been given Only to be told the kitchen didn’t open till 1700 My friend had a few words and said we couldn’t wait another 1/2 hour so he wasn’t happy. There was a mix up. It happens with staff. I politely mentioned I do Google reviews and have a very good rating ect having over 1/2 million views. Within one minute we could order our food. It arrived just before 1700 and was really really nice. They apologised and we thanked them for serving us . I couldn’t find any disabled toilet I noticed it was very wet on the floor with lots of loo roll scattered about when I first went in at 1600 When we left at nearly 1800 it was just the same really quite unpleasant That was really the only bad issue I noticed other than member of staff getting the times wrong . This is not a new place so would have thought these issues would not arise especially as there were lots of people still arriving as the weather was superb . I hope to go again as the food was really very nice. I write as I find and hope to honest and neutral .

I don’t even know how we exactly ended up at this place as we had just arrived from Thailand and I was trying to show the UK at its best to my Thai partner. We had rented a narrowboat and had 2 months to see as much as we could. After leaving the canals for a while we looked for a small hotel and after using various sites, we decided on the Leagate Inn for 3 nights. From the moment we arrived, it was “5 Star WoW” from my friend to see this beautiful and very traditional English pub in a beautiful old building. We both love great food and it seemed that we had hit the jackpot here with some amazing choices. The staff were so friendly and we also met Harry and Laura who were the owners and were amazing hosts. Outside the gardens and terraces looked exactly how my friend had imagined an “English Garden” would be and we could imagine what it must look like in the summer. It was nice to see that they had something for everyone as there was a lovely children’s play area and a few other guests had dogs. Our hotel room was very 5 star as was the the great food (lots of it and the best since arriving in the UK!) and although we might never get back it was somewhere we were so pleased we had experienced. If you get the chance to visit you really should.

I can’t comment on the food because I never got to try it…..

But I can comment on the service and regrettably it was not good at all. I was part of a family of 15 who visited for lunch today. We arrived at twelve and ordered around 12:15, a range of tasty meals were on the menu, and I picked the roast lamb for myself. I also ordered a kids meal for my two-year old daughter.

Some of the people at my table had ordered a starter; I didn’t order one, but I was ok with waiting for those who did. At the same time as the starters were served to other people at my table, my daughter received her main meal.

Whilst I didn’t ask for her to be served along with the starters, it was not a problem (or so I thought) as I could help my daughter with her meal (cutting it up etc.) whilst I waited for my own. About 45 minutes after ordering the main dishes arrived.

That is, all of the main meals apart from my own.

The waiting staff seemed completely oblivious to the fact that everybody but me had something in front of them to eat, and despite my attempts to catch somebody’s eye, (including saying “excuse me” to a number of the many servers going past our table) nobody from the waiting staff so much as glanced at me.

Around 10 minutes into everybody else being served, one of the waiting staff came over to us and asked if we had everything. When I then told her that I was waiting on the Lamb she promised to go and check (I didn’t actually see her again for the rest of our visit).

5 more minutes passed and another different server asked again if we needed anything. Once again, I informed them that I had not been given my meal. Cue a worried look from the server and her walking hurriedly away (I did not see this server again after my interaction with her either). At this point my daughter had eaten her meal and had understandably become bored of waiting. She proceeded to have a tantrum and to entertain her (and for the sake of all the other diners in the room) I took her into the car park to play with her.

Another 20 minutes (at which time we must have been around the 70-80 minute mark since ordering) I came back into the room and my meal still had not arrived. The majority of my family had finished their own meals and were discussing whether or not to order a dessert.

At this point I lost patience and cancelled my order completely. Quite simply I did not wish to eat a main meal whilst the rest of my family were eating desserts. Despite a half-hearted apology from yet another member of staff and being told “we can get you something else” I decided to leave and another family member settled the bill for me. Over 90 minutes after arriving my daughter had had enough, and so had I.

It was clear that somebody had made a mistake, and mistakes happen. Im fine with that. But when so many of the team at the Leagate Inn had the chance to rectify the issue, nobody seemed to have a clue what was going on; and even the ones who were told what was going on appeared to shrink away into the background as if they didn’t want to take ownership. I was, quite frankly, embarrassed for them by the end of my visit.

Overall, It’s Ninety minutes I wont get back….but every cloud has a silver lining and now I know not to come here again. However it is a problem I can walk away from; it’s really not something that the management of the Leagate Inn can ignore so easily. I hope they can address what happened today and help their staff learn from it, otherwise I am sure I won’t be the last disappointed customer.

On the bright side if you are table of four or less you seem to be a manageable amount of people for the current staff to handle….I hope the food is...

My husband and I recently had the pleasure of staying at The Leagate Inn in Coningsby, and it was a truly delightful experience. Nestled in the quiet countryside, this charming old inn exudes character, offering a warm and welcoming atmosphere from the moment you step inside.

One of the highlights was the open roaring fire, which made for a perfect cosy setting on a chilly evening coupled with a large glass of Malbec. The pub itself is full of history and old-world charm, with beautiful décor that retains its traditional feel while still being inviting and comfortable.

Our room was warm, well-decorated, and incredibly comfortable, providing a great night’s sleep after a day of exploring. It had all the little touches that make a difference, from quality furnishings to a homely feel. Including a roll top bath that oozed relaxation.

The food was outstanding, offering an à la carte menu that, while slightly on the pricier side, was absolutely worth it. As someone who is gluten-free, I was really impressed with how well they catered to my needs, the options were fantastic, and the staff were knowledgeable and accommodating. The food was beautifully presented and full of flavour, making dining here an absolute pleasure.

What really stood out was the exceptional service. The inn is family-run, and the warmth and hospitality of the owners and staff made us feel right at home. Nothing was too much trouble, and their genuine friendliness added to the charm of our stay.

Another big plus, dogs are welcomed, making it a great spot for those traveling with their furry companions. The countryside setting provides lovely walks, coupled with a mini local dog walking guide in the room, and a complementary dog bed, making it an ideal retreat for both guests and their pets.

If you’re looking for a peaceful getaway with fantastic food, a cosy atmosphere, and welcoming hosts, The Leagate Inn is a perfect choice. I’ll definitely be...

Have never experienced such bad management at a public house as this! When going out for a meal, you will always understand there will be items not available on the menu or sometimes have a bad meal, but what you don't expect is to be be lied to and spoken to like a child when asking the manager where your meal is! It would take to long to list all the failures of the pub with our meal, which included undercooked chicken, horrendous menu availability and slow service, but the worst of all was the managers attitude when raising our concerns. We ordered several dishes off the menu, which we then got told later they weren't available and we couldn't have them, other food that wasn't available we weren't even made aware of and they just decided to serve something else instead! In the instance of the fries, where we ordered sweet potato instead of chips and then got chips because they hadnt had sweet potatos fried in months was bad enough (I'm mean why are they advertising something on the menu they haven't had in ages!) But the worst was them deciding to change a monk fish curry for a prawn curry off their own back! Who actually does that without asking the customer first! Firstly it shouldn't have been on the menu if it was sold out and secondly my mum was allergic to prawns and if she had not noticed and eaten it would have been very poorly. This was bad enough, but the managers attitude towards this awful incident was worse. When told about this, after everything else that went wrong, he responded with "well what do you want me to do about it, sometimes you just have a bad meal"! HORRENDOUS! He sat drinking at the bar all night, blamed his young staff for the errors with our meal and took no responsibility at all! Take a good look at yourself and sort this awful service...
