WILL NEVER RETURN - DISGUSTING. We have been here before ( including staying overnight once ) and it was ok, but we can only assume that it has changed hands as it is now absolutely appalling. Nothing welcoming about the initial reception. We were then publicly branded as thieves when we tried to order. Everything must be paid for in advance before "service" but given the standard of that "service" I am not surprised, as one wouldn't want to pay afterwards, so I can only assume that people have been refusing to pay after the so-called "service". I parked the newest, and easily the most expensive car in their car park right outside their main window, I was wearing a suit and full wool overcoat and my wife a full dress and long coat ( we had been to a cremation) but was judged by the grumpy woman behind the bar to be a thieving con-man. It really upset us as an awful way to be treated on an already sad day. Having been forced to pay for all items separately up front ( not what used to happen with the old owners when it was properly run ) we then had to wait for a very long time for our meals. When they did eventually arrive ( both of our meals separately, one getting cold while we waited for the other ) they were both wrong. I asked for my 'seasonal vegetables' to be well cooked as "I do not like al Dante vegetables", but they were raw. I also asked for my wife's steak to be "Well done" and it turned up a significant time before my meal, cooked rare ( see photo ). I ate a little of her steak, but most of it was wasted. Basically, she was given cheap ciabatta and chips for the cost of a steak meal. When I was well into my meal, someone appeared saying "I have been asked to bring you some well-cooked vegetables ( I can only assume that someone else had noticed that I had pushed all of my raw vegetables to the side of my plate ) and then someone that I guess was a local approached and offered to get me some gravy. That did arrive a short while later but only after I was already more than half-way through my meal. Sometime AFTER we had finished, a young woman came to clear the table and had the cheek to ask " Was everything ok for you" but when we both said "No" she just shrugged, said nothing and took the plates. A COMPLETE RIP-OFF WITH APPALLING ( LACK OF ) SERVICE AND TREATING CUSTOMERS WITH SUSPICION AND CALLING THEM THIEVES - NEVER AGAIN - DISGUSTING

This place is absolutely brilliant! A group of 6 adults 1 toddler and 1 baby arrived for great grandmas 101st birthday and the owner was so lovely! He introduced her to the members of the public sat around the bar and everyone sung happy birthday to her. She felt so special and surprised. The food came out SO quickly and it was delicious! I’m a big believer that nothing beats a home cooked roast but it was faultless. Between us, we had a lot of different things on the menu, and we all agreed how yummy it was. The portion sizes were really really good too! Both main course and dessert (we didn’t have a starter). We will definitely be back! All of the staff were very accommodating and friendly and really engaged with both of my children. The play area is brilliant for children aged 3 and above I would say. I’m really really pleased we discovered this, we’re already planning our next visit. Totally worth the 40 minute drive!

Really enjoy visiting this Beautiful pub. The roaring fire in the bar area, the conservatory is amazing and is perfect for events. Staff are friendly, helpful always willing to help with an questions you may have. I have sampled the amazing beef and Mushroom, beef and Ale pie several times. Large pieces of beef in a short crust pastry, that melts in your mouth. Fresh crunchy veg, creamy mash potatoes. Trio of brownies pudding with local Ice Cream, I enjoy the Cheese Board especially. With locally made cheeses. There is a large Gin selection as well as largers and wine's. Would live to stay at the Splash Inn. Already looking forward to going back in the new year.

We went here with some friends to celebrate a birthday as we have been before and was nice thought we would go again unfortunately it was a completely different experience we sat at a table in the bar and the men went to the bar and they were served by a young lady who clearly did not want to be there as was very rude they asked if there was alcohol free gin and was told no but when they went to the bar for a second round and served by a friendly and knowledgeable young man who said there was alcohol free gin we placed our order for food and was not too longer wait until our starters arrived there was a fair wait between our starters and our mains arriving but was not too much of an issue as we were chatting once we had finished our mains we had been left with empty plates for quite some time and as we were sat near the bar and there was no one around he asked if we could have the dessert menu and was told by the young lady that they were around the other side of the bar im sorry but I don't think it would of killed her to bring them to us and we waited a bit longer and eventually someone came and cleared the mains and we asked again for the dessert menu and the young lady got them for us you would thinkvthat if they were keen to get locked up early they would be a bit quicker serving The food it's self was not too bad except for my cheesecake which was not set and was not nice so I did not eat it but they came to clear the plates and iwas not asked if it was OK I would of spoken to a manager but as we got up to go there was no one around at all the staff had closed the curtains and locked the fire escape door think they were trying to tell us something so we left and it was a few minutes to ten we looked at the Web page on the way home to see that you closed at ten which would of been OK if we knew instead being completely ignored hoping we would go away...

Absolutely amazing!! The food was to die for.. I had steak and ale pie which was the best Iv ever had.. melt in your mouth meat and pastry was perfect! Asked for loads of gravy and they brought me a massive jug which was fantastic and no extra cost which was lovely.. I also ordered a portion of onion rings because I rarely have them as find them hit and miss everywhere I go but I saw someone else have them and I couldnt resist.. no word of a lie it was stunning.. I could of just sat and eaten 2 plates of onion rings they were out of this world amazing (and I'm picky with onion rings) I loved them!! drinks were perfect and curry which my dad had was lovely too he doesn't normally think much to curry but had the tikka masala and loved every bit.. mum had scampie and said it was the best she's had too.. kids had chicken and chips and it was just stunning they ate every bit!! Jeff the maitre d was so lovely! He made our holiday to be honest he was so nice and friendly he made us all laugh so much and was so much fun and so full of energy it was lovely to be around.. everywhere needs a Jeff.. wish we could of taken him home xx Jeff if your reading this.. you are amazing.. never change!
