The glamping garden is spacious and pleasant with privacy space around each pod, lovely mature birch trees at the back and a little brook at the back of my pod. Not sure how wheelchair users would access these pods however? Could they not have a ramp too - think this would be a simple thing to do, but then would need disabled toilets and at present there are none. The pod was uncomfortably hot upon arrival and I was very concerned about my dog staying in it - not me, just the dog, lol but, after leaving the doors and window open it did cool down at night. I asked if they had a fan but they didn't - this surprised me, as it has a small wall-mounted heater and you'd think a cool switch/option for the heater would be the minimum for the Summer, and as this was August 2022, the week after the heatwave. Therefore, I had the added cost of ordering a portable fan from Amazon. However it did have USB ports in the plug socket to use these type of connections. There was a sturdy, wooden nest of tables, which was handy for coffees etc. The mattress on the double bed in the Alfie arch pod was appalling - old style camping/spring one - very lumpy, and I didn't sleep at all on the first night (although I think this is just me on holidays in general missing my own bed etc) The bed was strong enough to take a normal divan or memory foam mattress, I think perhaps this was a waterproof, camping one, that's why cheapest, crepe-type duvet provided - no support, no corners even, -doesn't have proper corners, and just lump in the middle, The door curtains had quite a few pulls on them and the cushions had seen better days. There's a good kettle - but the coffee cups are tiny -well, just 'normal' coffee cup size AKA - not big enough for most people - best bring your own mugs. Lights are okay but one over the bed not working - probably just needs bulb changing ( halogen type) Veggie option of bean burger was okay - although the pattie was a bit cold, could have been heated through more thoroughly - good gherkins/pickles with the burger and this pub has some of the best chips I've tasted for a while. Other campers seemed pleasant and friendly and overall, it seemed to have a peaceful family atmosphere which seemed safe. I'm not sure how 'single-friendly' it is - when checking in, I was questionned, " JUST' you then?" However, the website also states there is a 'shop' for buying milk and other camping neccessities etc. When I asked about shop opening times, I was told, " First, we do not have a shop!" - although this is on the website and there is a big sign pointing to it on site! Whether this is to do with staffing or whatever, I'm not sure? but the way they responded to me, made me feel like I was being ridiculous even asking, so I didn't! had to virtually beg/buy the last pint of milk from the bar! There is a big difference between the glamping toilets (at the side of the pub/part of the building) and the cramped campsite toilets that are in a smelly block, with ridiculous lights that go off after 2 nano-seconds! I had to do an impression of John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever, flailing arms around, just to avoid being left in the dark in the shower, toilet or when brushing my teeth Other peoples' hairs on shower etc - not pleasant, but good strong shower jet and toilet flushing! I thought these were the only ones at first, so glad to find the other showers that they give you a code on a business card to get into. Generally a good pub/camping location but bring your own bedding and don't expect to buy anything from the shop advertised on the website!

I'll get straight to the point: This place makes the best ice cream I've ever tasted. We stopped here for Sunday dinner on our way to a short break. It's a lovely old pub that's very traditional inside but as it was warm we sat in the marquee which was very spacious and comfortable. The dinner itself was very nice, with slow cooked pork and beef, roasts, homemade Yorkshire puds and very tasty carrots and cabbage. The dessert menu sounded very tasty, with some of it baked in the pub apparently. We don't usually bother but felt like trying the ice cream so my son went for three scoops of cookie dough and I had one each of Biscoff, Jaffa Cake and lemon meringue. Absolutely incredible. All five of us thought the same. Maybe a bit on the sweet side for some but not for us. We're planning to pop in on the way home to try the vanilla. Apparently people make a special trip just for the ice cream. I can totally see why. 👍

Fairly small quiet campsite situated at the rear of the pub. Friendly welcome and allowed to choose our own pitch. Owners were unobtrusive and we were left to our own devices, quietly confident we would receive any help our advice if needed. Shower block and toilets very clean and a nice area for pot washing etc. The site allows firepits and we spent a couple of very pleasant evenings enjoying a glass of wine enjoying a wonderful view of the Lincolnshire wolds. Pub was a bit of a disappointment, not because there was anything particularly wrong with it, but because it appears to have very limited opening hours. In addition, it seemed when it was open, you were never quite sure what time it might close. The market towns of Horncastle and Louth are close by and Lincoln isn't a million miles away if you fancy a day trip. All in all, a very relaxed and enjoyable stay.l

My partner surprised me with a meal out and made a booking here. The pub is located in the Lincolnshire countryside which is always beautiful. The website gave great expectations.

Entrance sign would be a great addition.

The ceilings are quite low which you'd expect from a qwerky country pub. The bar area is quite small so I'm guessing that's why they have the marquee in the back.

It was clear to see that the young lady behind the bar wasn't very experienced and asked me to point out the drink I wanted because she didn't know. When I got the drink it wasn't a full short and the pepsi was flat. I asked her if she could change it and she apologised and exchanged which was really nice.

We asked to change tables because where we were going to be seating was in the corner of the bar area right next to another couple, I'm suggesting that we would more or less be dining at the same table, it was too close, due to the small bar area. The bar staff obliged straight away and suggested another table, great service.

We were sat for just over an hour before our food arrived, 2 tables who ordered after us had received and finished there food. We did get apologies while we waited which was good.

When the food arrived I was hugely disappointed. My serlion was well done and I asked for medium rare the chips were deep fried that much they had no potatoes left in them. The server acknowledged straight away that it wasn't right and that they were training someone in the kitchen so things have been messing up.

She exchanged my steak for a salad which came out beautifully however by this time I was 1.5hrs into not eating a great deal and not that hungry.

With the steak I ordered a sauce and onion rings which I didn't touch but after leaving with just my meal taken off which was very nice to do, these items had not been refunded.

We left paying £68 feeling like we'd just wasted it.

The staff are nice acknowledged there was a problem and tried very hard to put it right.

We wouldn't be going...

We camped here for 3 nights mid-week. What a beautiful location and perfectly kept campsite!! I can't comment on the showers as I didn't use them personally but part of our party did and said they were kept very clean. We had to book a shower time in order to use so that a thorough clean could be undertaken between parties. Covid rules and guidelines very very good and clear. Toilets were good, we saw them fairly regularly being cleaned.

Perfect setting for a quiet break away from everyday life. The owners were lovely. I am a little shocked to read the review below that say they experienced rudeness. We had pleasant interactions at all times; very helpful and kind.

We ate outside one night on pizza night and the food was incredible. Also, they are part of the eat out to help out scheme, which is obviously a good point for the customer.

The village shop was closed however when we asked about it, we were asked if there was anything in particular we needed or wanted. Again, very kind and accomodating.

We picked up a few leaflets and undertook a few walks around the wolds which was breathtaking. We're not from far away but the location and the views around there are just beautiful. We also walked through the cow field which was just next to the campsite which was adorable!

We would 100% stay again and recommend it to anybody. I have been shielding throughout lockdown, and was quite nervous to go away / stay somewhere. But could not fault it at all.

Overall, a perfect 'staycation' at a family-friendly, dog-friendly campsite for any age looking for a lovely peaceful break away.

Unfortunately didn't get the chance to say thank you and goodbye when we left as we did pack up and leave early, but if the owners see this - thank you so much! We had a...
