Aldringham Tea Room — Restaurant in East Suffolk

Three generations of women in my family visited Aldringham Tea Room on the Saturday before Mothering Sunday to have afternoon tea.

My mum is a big fan of this tea room but Grandma and I were visiting for the first time. We were delighted with the afternoon tea, which was presented very prettily and had a good variety of food. The beetroot hummus and warm sausages were particular highlights! It's a good price and holds its own against much pricier afternoon teas we have had in London.

Another highlight were the two lovely ladies working in there, who were very helpful with my grandma's limited mobility. One of them overheard Grandma mention that her chair wasn't well-suited and immediately brought over an alternative before we had a chance to ask! The other lady kindly offered to take our photo to help us remember our day out.

A lovely tea room, nicely decorated and everything was very reasonably priced. The food was nice but the dishes it was served in could have been a little larger as it was easy to spill it onto the table trying to get the food out. The service was probably the best I’ve come across, such friendly staff, especially the gray haired lady who took so much trouble to make us feel welcome. A member of staff was loudly reprimanded (presumably by the owner) for not asking customers if they enjoyed their food. I felt desperately sorry for her as the whole tea room heard.
