The Black Dog Deli Yoxford — Restaurant in East Suffolk

I have been to the Black Dog Deli in Yoxford many times as I live nearby and come for lunch on a regular basis, alongside dropping in every now and then to grab a takeaway coffee. The deli is lovely, has lots of fantastic food options, but is painfully let down by the inconsistencies in its coffee.

There seems to be very little knowledge being taught to the baristas about black coffee and how it is made. Every time I visit and order a coffee I don’t receive what I have ordered. This has happened multiple times from multiple different baristas. I have previously ordered a long black and was given a coffee “soup”, and, when I questioned the order, I was told by the barista that that was what a long black was. Having worked as a barista myself in the past I can safely say that this is not the case.

I like visiting the deli for their fantastic food, but would love it if their employees underwent barista training to gain a better understanding of coffee and the different...

If I was posting about the food served here I would give 4.5 stars. My wife and I have always enjoyed The Black Dog Deli food and customer service in Walberswick however, our first experience in the Yoxford deli was really disappointing. We arrived at 3:45 on Friday. The front door was open so we went in. A man was vacuuming with a very loud hoover. We asked if they were still open. He rather grudgingly said they were but we had to shout over the noise of the hoover as he was determined not to turn it off. Perhaps in hope that we would leave. He even proceeded to hoover around our feet so that we had to step out of the way! Rarely have we ever encountered such rudeness. Perhaps he had had a bad day and just wanted to go home. Hopefully our next experience at one of these delis will be better...

When we visited, there was one young girl serving and one cooking . They had been let down by a member of staff and worked on there own. They did a very fine job and it was getting busy. We were just passing through and had looked on Google Map to find somewhere to stop for Coffees and snacks on the way to Southwold. We found the girls very pleasant and accommodating, our coffees were good, the hot Chocolate was excellent and all three of us got something to eat. It is very rare to find staff so capable. They weren't flapping and they were doing there best. No-one was being turned away and I had the utmost admiration for them . It was Monday the...
