So very accommodating, and gorgeous menu
Thank you for going 'above and beyond' for us yesterday. Our coeliac granddaughter said the gluten-free gram-flour battered halloumi was the best thing she's ever eaten. My portobello mushroom pie with Stilton sauce was just gorgeous - great idea, except everyone else kept nicking my sauce :) Others had salt-and-pepper squid (very nice), blue burger (excellent), etc.
Great to have a menu that's so broad as well as original, and gluten-free food made up from carefully thought-through ingredients, rather than just from a packet.
We had arranged to arrive before the 2pm last-serving time, but we called in to suggest they give up on us 'cos we'd be far too late. When we finally arrived, the landlady (Cheryl) and kitchen still cheerfully accommodated us even though it was about half-past by the time we'd ordered. The place felt very friendly...
Read moreI wanted to share what a lovely experience we had at the Crown Inn. The Crown is a traditional English Pub, with real ales and the usual other stuff. It has a quaint beer garden, nicely sheltered and good for kids as the garden is fully enclosed. Lots of parking too. Cheryl and Richard agreed to open up the kitchen for our party (10 of us) when they would normally be closed which was great because most pubs in the area also didn't serve food on a Tuesday, We pre ordered from the menu, and the food was excellent. Even the kids ate (which is a minor miracle if you know our 3 yr old). The kids meals were very high quality. However, the kids did get very upset when they returned to the table after playing to find that the adults had eaten all the kids leftovers... I throughly recommend visiting the Crown if you are in the area, you will be well...
Read morePopped in after seeing the sign post on the A12 coming from Woodbridge. When we arrived we noticed we were too late by five minutes for lunch but went in anyway. Pleased to say the staff asked the chef and we were able to order lunch. We were given a choice of three menus a lunchtime special two meals for £12, a burger menu and a pub classic menu. We opted for the lunchtime special with my wife having the slow cooked beef stew and I chose the gammon pineapple & chips. Both were lovely two clean plates at the end says it all. We decided to share a dessert and that was as good as the main meal. We will go back should have asked before we left if they do Sunday lunches. Good selection of drinks and two good locally brewed bitters from cask. Staff give you a warm welcome and helpful throughout your visit. A great pub and would highly...
