Well to start with the woman serving us ,or shall we say Mrs basil faulty was not meant to work in hospitality. We asked for our wine glasses to be changed as they didn't look good at all , she then proceeded to lecture us about it being a hard water area . We then went to our booked table which had seating similar to a bus stop ( extremely uncomfortable) . As we were with friends who we hadn't seen in several years, we were chatting, Mrs faulty came and asked if we were ready to order, so we asked for 2 minutes, she immediately huffed and said well it can only be 2 minutes, I've got other people to serve . Read moreI must give this pub a glowing 5 star review although our initial reception was disappointing when we were asked - rather brusquely - to take our bikes out of the garden. Given that the garden had about 12 tables and there were never more than two other people sitting there with us, I don't think our two little folding bikes tucked away between our table and a fence could have caused any sort of a problem. I wonder if pushchairs are also banned? Anyway, after that, the rest of the staff were really lovely and our meal and Real Ales were excellent. Read moreThe Rumbrugh Buck reminds me of the East Anglian pubs I visited when I first started visiting. The principal difference was that very few pubs sold food in those days. Today one might partake of an excellent meal selected from a broad menu, served with a pleasant smile and cooked with care and thought. That was certainly the case with the Buck.
