I loved this café; a beautiful setting and good choice for lunch. Lovely home made cakes etc. It's a delight to sit outside near the duckpond on a beautiful summer's day and while away a few hours .
However I do struggle with mobility and every time I venture out it's with trepidation, hoping that I won't have to walk far and that I'll easily find a comfortable spot to sit. Last time I came here if was quite full with only two tables free - one large table and one small pushed against the wall. I didn't feel able to navigate to the small table do my don and I sat at the larger table. After sitting for a few minutes we were asked to move across the café to the smaller table 'in case' a larger group came in. It was a struggle but I did it. We had to move the table a little to get my crutches in. We ordered and were then asked to move AGAIN to allow better access to the crafts. This meant I now had my back to the drinks fridge and was continually having to shuffle around. Being asked to move once when every movement is painful is not nice but TWICE?
I do like the cafe but will be more circumspect in future and only go in if I can see an outside table free before getting out of the car. Please be more considerate of people's personal situation before asking them to move around...
Read moreA friend with her baby (11months) and myself with my little one (4months) went to have breakfast (£12.50) and drinks. The food standard was shocking, felt like a greasy cafe plate of food, beans were discoloured, bacon chewy, presentation was awful. My friend was feeding her baby, I asked if we could close the door to feed baby, as the wind was blowing right on baby and the serviettes off the table(bearing in mind we were the only customers there at the time) I was told 'we have the door open, as it gets really hot in the kitchen, I'll open it for 20mins.' The door was opened before that, then had to feed my 4 months old with wind blowing that his hair stood up! We closed the door, surely it opened again. Plates were not collected while there, noise in the kitchen was so loud, you could not converse properly. Customer service really needs improving, we could hear the manager moaning at the waiter! Not busy at all, this was between 9am- 10am, that speaks volumes. Will certainly not be...
Read moreMediocre service. 3 people in kitchen, one was earing a pack of crisps and singing to rock which was dar too loud and not really appropriate for the clientele and setting, he then served people without having washed his hands. Our table wasn't cleared for ages and not until after I'd ordered a second lot of teas and had them delivered, this was inside too, so staff not checking tables. The server took my order and asked where I would be sitting, like I hadn't just ordered tea and food and sat there for 40 minutes already! My poached eggs on toast arrived with butter or some type of spread applied, which hadn't been requested or offered. Won't go back in a hurry, if ever. Is a beautiful setting but staff not attentive and food was hard to order as the options were limited and then they struggled to charge for just eggs and toast or just beans for people who were wanted more simple offerings, as the technology...
