Honestly one of the worst meals we have ever had. I was convinced by the owner earlier that day that everything is cooked fresh to order so when we ordered 3 smoked platters we was told there would be a wait. Perfectly acceptable considering it made âfreshâ everyday. We was then served our food which was served on dirty white plastic oval platters. Maybe wooden boards would be a much better option as it doesnât look so tacky. Iâm a chef myself and the concept of smoking meats means itâs cooked low and slow. The meats we received were all precooked and then put in the smoker to try and take on the smoked flavour but all it did was dry it out from reheating it. The smoked jus was just watered down meat juices, they claimed the sweetcorn had smoked butter on it, it was just watery defrosted sweetcorn. The beans actually had a good flavour and was the best bit. Brisket is also meant to be soft and fall apart, it was so dry. All this said the people on our table that didnât order from the smoked menu enjoyed their meals. Maybe scrap the smoker, itâs not working for you. Also check backs were done about 1 min after our plates were put on the table so we didnât really have time to really taste the food. We complained to staff and was given a very small refund but I really think you should try the food yourselves before serving it to customers. P.s according to your staff your âpopularâ platter receives complaints quite...
Read moreWhat a brilliant community pub that openly welcomes visitors. During our visit to Broadlands Sands Holiday Park the 6 of us went for a walk following the coast and on the way back popped in to this pub for a warm up drink. The main bar was busy with locals watching the football so we went in to the other bar where it was quieter and then out to the conservatory area where we found some comfy sofas at one end and settled in. The IPA was lovely as was the Lurcher stout. Cups of tea were had by two of the ladies, no sweet sherry for them this time đ. We met Ghost the beautiful rescue Husky who is clearly adored by those who go there as well as some other well behaved dogs so the pub is very dog friendly. We also noticed quite a few other groups of walkers popping in. We did get a tad rowdy with our laughter and had a great few hours there without any hassle. The only photos we have focus on someone impersonating Wally We already had our food sorted at the caravan so didnt eat there hut what we saw being served to the tables looked yummy. A great respite...
Read moreBest freshly cooked hot donuts ever Visited The White Horse during our seaside weekend to friends living locally in Corton, on Suffolk/Norfolk border. Had a recommendation as a âmust tryâ the hot donuts freshly made to order from their âstreet foodâ style cart beside their village shop in the beer garden setting of the pub. Being a self professed connoisseur, I concur. The donuts were the nicest we have tasted. Chris (owner) made them for us himself, and then came and enquired as to our appraisal as he prides himself on the recipe. They also have a fishânâchips cart that is similarly acclaimed, and open during summer months and we are definitely coming back to try. Had a lovely relaxing time whiling time away the afternoon with a âcold oneâ talking to the lovely landlady Beverley. A truly special, âlocalâ English pub experience, attentive, relaxing, and fun with friendly & chatty, high quality food, drink and bar & server staff service. Very highly recommended. Thanks Team...
