If I could give this lovely place 10 stars I would. My friend had her 70th birthday lunch here today. There was fourteen of us seated in the bright and airy conservatory. As soon as I came in I was welcomed by a very smiley member of staff. Things only got better. The service was very quick, friendly and efficient. All our meals were served at the same time, a feat in itself. The meals were all piping hot and everyone enjoyed the food immensely, clean plates all round and anything anyone couldn't manage was put in a takeaway container, so nothing was wasted. The portions were very generous and very reasonably priced. Top class. I managed to have a quick chat with the Manageress on my way out to say how much we had all enjoyed the food and service. I'm glad I also got to tell the chef too. I would highly recommend The Ship Inn, unlike other pub/restaurants they accommodated a large party of people. My friend said she had called a few places who wouldn't take a party of more than ten. So, if you are looking to book a larger party, don't waste time.. Go here, I'm confident you won't be disappointed. One and only one, drawback is there is no parking, it's permit holders only between 8am and 6pm, every day of the week. I know, because I received a parking ticket on a Sunday in a permit holders only space. My fault, but a bit of a pain as my reasonably priced meal cost me double 😞.

Have been here acouple of times each year on visits to Eastbourne.Fairly quiet on this occasion so tables being spaced out and adequate supplies of antibacterial spray to use gave a feeling of confidence in the staff and establishment. We had Baguettes and sandwiches which came with a salad garnish.A large portion of French fries were an extra. The pub was spotless ,service a little slow and the menu comprehensive if a little expensive in places. All in all a good place for lunch frequented mainly by elderly local residents

We had a lovely dinner here before taking part in the pub quiz. The food was delicious and the quiz was a lot of fun, and only cost £1 each to enter. The staff were very nice and the inside is so cozy. The menu is so big and there are lots of vegetarian options - the halloumi burger was delicious. Thanks for a lovely night :)

One of the nicest pubs I have had a meal in, fair variety of menu options from jacket potatoes, steak to even a Thai Red curry, one of the tastiest I have had. A real good home cooked feel to all the dishes, we had while on holiday and very consistent. Had local ale and red wine, both good and enjoyable. Children's menu very good too with 4 choices, if I recall correctly. Staff were good and accomodating. Wish this was my local and would go back again when in Eastbourne. Puts some so called Bistro style pubs to shame, punching above its weight with a good selection of meals and specials. Good option for a family meal or with...
