The Southampton Arms – A Perfect Ending to Our Culinary Journey in Southampton It seems we truly saved the best for last! Our meal at The Southampton Arms was hands down the highlight of our visit to Southampton, and we couldn’t have asked for a better Sunday brunch experience. This place offers some of the best homestyle cooking around, and after a week, it was a joy to finally see a generous serving of fresh veggies on my plate. The food here is fresh, delicious, and served piping hot, just like a good homestyle meal should be. Although we didn’t realize we needed a reservation, Martina, who runs this charming establishment, made sure we got a table and the chance to enjoy her incredible food. We kicked off our brunch with a refreshing Moretti beer and a beautifully smoked mackerel starter. Next came the star of the show: a trio of roasts featuring pork, lamb, and beef, all accompanied by an assortment of veggies and creamy mashed carrots. And just when we thought it couldn't get any better, we were served an outstanding beef pie with a side of veggies and mashed potatoes. For anyone who loves authentic, hearty, and simply delicious food, I wholeheartedly recommend The Southampton Arms. It’s a must-visit for real food lovers!

What a great lil pub to visit. We are from the states staying at a nearby hotel and wanted to try some local food, we read some good reviews and decided to give it a try & what a great decision that was. My husband and I both ordered specials, I chose the sea bass and wow was it delicious and looked fancy, my husband ordered a roasted chicken dish with a red wine sauce, he devoured it. We also tried onions rings with 3 sauces, they were piping hot when they came to the table. We ended the meal with sticky toffee pudding & custard sauce. Wowza it was good and melts in your mouth. I'd also like to say thank you Carley for the great service you gave us. We were greeted so cheerfully, what a great bubbly personality and she stayed on top of our drink refills. This place is the whole package, quaint atmosphere, great food and incredible service. Definitely come try this place, if you get the chance.

If you’re staying at the Hilton Utilita/Ageas Bowl, look north further for an authentic British pub experience nearby. Set in a former house, inside and out provided an idyllic atmosphere. Food was extraordinarily delicious, with many options for both adults and children. Huge portions did not disappoint. Helpful and friendly staff, with food and beverage suggestions were very accommodating of our tired (we just arrived after a red eye crossing the pond) family. The beef pie was filled with succulent and hearty chunks of meat, the omelet fluffy and filling, and the fish cake to start - you could tell it and everything else was freshly made by a genius in the kitchen. What better way to end our meal than toffee pudding with custard, warm and steaming it was a great finish. Best way to start your pre-cruise vacation out of Southampton.

If only I could leave a 0.

We attended my grandmothers funeral on Friday (just gone) and this venue was the closet place to hold the wake.

Unfortunately when we turned up, we found Mother’s day celebrations all over the section in the pub where the wake was being held. When we walked in we first thought we got the wrong section in the pub but no, after speaking with the staff this was correct.

The young man we spoke to behind the bar seemed quite embarrassed and could see this was completely inappropriate but the owner was appalling. He was lovely. Thank you whoever you were.

Her response was that she didn’t know it was quote “a female wake” then when we asked for the decorations to be taken down it was “well will you put them back up”. Seriously. It’s a wake. Someone has just died and my family paid for the food and services (it wasn’t a freebie) so what’s with the distastefulness and damn right rudeness!?

It was so out of line. You had balloons and banners saying “happy Mother’s Day”. You knew there was a wake!! We booked it and paid per person. Why didn’t you wait until after the wake on Friday? Mother’s Day is today… my dad thought it was a joke!

And your response was what did it. You could have easily just said “I’m really sorry, don’t worry we made a mistake and we’ll take it down” - done. But you wanted an argument and then asked me to put them back up. If this is how you treat customers, then you shouldn’t be in business. You are so rude and thankfully we never have to come back.

I just wanted to leave a review as a warning to any other people thinking of holding a wake here. Hold onto your money and go to a venue where they actually care. This one is just after your money! You were really rude to me. Thanks for that.

The young lad took 10% off the bill which was a gesture, but wasn’t needed if she wasn’t so rude! Maybe delegate to him and your business might...

Took my children down here yesterday with a few of our friends and kids very rude unprofessional and horrible landlady, approached us all in the garden while sat outside with our children where she told us she doesn’t tolerate’ drugs in her pub, we was doing absolutely nothing wrong we explained to her that we had not done drugs and we was ordering our kids food etc she then pointed at me and said ‘you especially look like your on drugs and your jaw is to one side’ I have been suffering with Bell’s palsy for 7 weeks and have been very conscious of this not being able to face going out etc the one time I do go out in approach in a rude manor and am accused of being of my head on drugs!! once I said to her how dare you accuse me of being on drugs when I am going through Bell’s palsy I have NOT touched any drugs or a single drop of alcohol she continued to rant and rave to us being rude did not even apologise for accusing me of being on drugs she just kept being so rude to us all!! Very rude and horrible lady and does not deserve to own a pub if she cannot speak to customers in the right manor!! horrible horrible lady who deserves to have her license...
