The restaurant if you could call it setting is beautiful but thats where it ends. We quite possibly had the worst eating out experience ever at this place. First of all book a table for Sunday carvery just to be told after we have ordered drinks that we cannot have it because they have a private function upstairs. Then they process to tell us we must phone e to make a booking for Sunday Carvery. It did not say that on their website when we booked it. Manager processed to tell me that they had lots of complaints because people like us turned up and were not able to have it so now it should say it on their website...not good enough that they dont let their existing Sunday bookings know about it. Since we had a golf tee time(shop staff were very lovely and accommodating with our changers due to the restaurant situation) we made a decision to stay and eat from their regular menu. Burger arrived cold...I have never had to send food back for being cold since I don't like super hot food anyway but that was not even warm! Second burger came out 5 minutes later! Worrying how they can cook a fresh burger within 5 min. Well the burger was raw this time. When I told waiter about it I was told they use colourings in meat hence the reason for my burger looking raw inside. Not sure what's worse raw burger or a burger full of colourings which is very u heard however their managers should be very proud of him announcing that to...
Read moreI am genuinely very, very confused by all of the good reviews for this place. I booked a table for my husband's 40th birthday for the two of us and our two children. There was a mistake made by the bar staff when taking our order; they didn't understand our starters were starters and our mains were mains, so all of our food came at once. They actually did us a huge favour, as it meant we could leave quicker. I find it infuriating that good restaurants are given a bad wrap for 'a slightly soggy pizza base' or 'the waiter took a while to take our order (because it was a busy Friday night), and then places like this continue to get 5 star reviews for food that is cold, barely edible and served with absolutely no enthusiasm. Even really scraping the barrel, I can't find a good thing to say about it. I had the squid 'to start', and aside from it being cold, it didn't taste of anything....thank goodness for the sweet chilli sauce. Then I had a pot of cold, soggy chips that came with my vegan burger which wasn't at all cooked (I'm not sure plant burgers should be served rare). Everyone else's was...
Read moreWe used to visit Silvermere regularly for their Sunday roasts even though it was quite a drive from home. There used to be lashings of gorgeous beef, two yorkshire puds and great trimmings including cauliflower cheese.
It seems now the management has decided to cover a year’s inflation by seriously short changing their customers on the portion size and meat quality.
The photos tell the story, almost exactly a year apart, a tiny portion of beef cut so thin you can almost see the pattern on the plate through it, pallid potatoes and the cauliflower cheese is now an additional side dish at £5.50
Far better quality roast dinners available almost anywhere for the same price so this is an unbelievably short sighted and stupid move by Silvermere.
The rest of the menu is general pub and fried food which we can get at far better quality locally, so I really cant see us going back.
You will see from my other reviews that I am almost always writing to praise a venue, so it takes a lot of disappointment to make me write...
