If you plan a day, maybe you will come onto Google check food and transport availability. So it is disappointing having found parking, times of Ulswater steamers (not steam powered btw?) that the tea room near a waterfall has this. The food available was indeed reduced. There are only 2 staff, but one was having quite the time of it cleaning a bin out and educating people on what has to go in which bin and hysterics because a disposable nappy had been put in the recycle bin. I get the annoyance at that, but apparently as this bin person we’ll call binflucencer had been on holiday there had been no bin maintenance. We watched for a while while eating the available scrapes of food as the binfluencer continued to growl at people not adhering to the strict bin code. When binfluencer had gone many people put there rubbish in the bin and moved away very quickly. I did not video as I had not asked other people’s permission to record them. Hopefully a positive review for other things today.

The cakes, coffee and hot chocolate were lovely and the staff friendly and inviting. The place was clean and the range of food on offer was great for the winter! Loved that they had a little bookcase of second hand books for perusing while eating, and the option to pop a donation in the box if you wanted to take the book home with you. A lovely find, close to the walking path and one of the few local places open on the day we visited the area.

Unsanitary - flies on the scones and cakes being served to people.

Chairs put onto uncleaned tables near closing time, they lifted the chairs to wipe the table, the chair had already touched the dirty table then they were placed back down once the table was wiped clean.

I simply had a cappuccino as the various unsanitary practices really put me off, these staff really need some basic food...
