Went here last night (19/12/20). If I could give this place zero stars I would. We stayed for 2 hours and had one drink- we only had this drink because we asked for it ourselves. We waited a long time for each course (starters and main) and when we had finished we waited a long time for our plates to be cleared. I asked for salt that never came, mean while the waitress who went to get it was SAT on the table beside us talking to a lady and gentlemen who were eating. It was like we were invisible all night, because the couple sat to the right and left of us were clearly regulars, who got all of the staffs attention. At one point whilst we were still waiting for our plates to be taken (around 20 minutes) the table to the right of us had 1 waitress and 2 waiters spawning around them, giving them more drinks and asking if everything was okay. The food was completely average- we had a pizza that resembled and tasted like a meat feast from Tesco and a below average cold steak with around 10 chips- looked like a hungry horse pub lunch. The starters were okay, but nothing I couldn’t have whipped up at home saving myself £80. When someone eventually came to us and asked if we were okay I told them I was very disappointed due to all of the above- I got no apologies and when we received the bill they had not even applied a discount or offered apologies in any way. As my partner was paying I got up and waited by the door (very annoyed at this point), I then stood and watched as the waiter taking his card payment TURNED HIS BACK on him and walked over to the table to the right of us AGAIN to talk to this couple!!!!!
Sometimes when the food isn’t great, but the service is good you can compromise. In contrast if the food is great and the service isn’t good you can compromise on this too; however both were awful at al fresco. I would never go back there after the way they treated us, and would not encourage anyone else to visit this restaurant either.
We have a huge family who love Italian food so they dipped out massively on this...
Read moreMy partner and I booked a special dinner for two tonight on New Years Eve.
Firstly we were pushed into a corner with no other option for seating. (And we were early!)
I tipped my drink accidentally and it took 20 minutes until a waiter attempted to wipe the table! We had to sit through 4 courses with a halfwiped table! I was speechless- it was half cooked! Sent it back. Was like cardboard. Was starving by this point. They gave us another lobster ravioli and it was like eating table salt! Awful!
The waiter said it tasted good to him! It wasnt nice.
Next mains came out.
The waiter asked us they were ok after one bite. We said yes. But wait…
My partner ordered lamb rack- was pink and not cooked! We were tild this was normal! We wasnt offered an apology or a replacement! Shocking!
Next my steak came out, tasted ok until I realisee I was eating charcoal! Not pleasant!
Was like eating coal! Not steak. Very disappointed.
When we came to give feedback one waiter shrugged his shoulders and said theres nothing they can do!
Im used to a concertive caring and nice service!
This was the opposite! The manager said he could only waive 10%!
He couldnt care whether we enjoyed our meal or not!
By this point my partner and I were speechless and very disapponted!
In the end we had to tell the manager to waive our drinks!
They still had the audasity to ask us if we wanted a desert!
Im still waiting for an apology cos in proper Italian restaurants if you arent happy with anything they will look after you! This wasnt the case with this restaurant! They clearly do t care! They even said we have lots of customers!
To top it off they couldnt be bothered to say good bye or even help us with the buggy!
Do not attempt to eat at this mediorcre italian!
They show no empathy and the food is overcooked or undercooked- a rip off in fact!
One terrible experience! Do...
Read moreI am ashamed it has taken me this long to write a review for Al Fresco. We have been dining here now consistently for over 2yrs. Once every 2months I would say. And it has been magnificent every time. Eddie and his team consistently serve up fabulous meals, for our whole extended family with different tastes and culinary needs. The menu has been revamped a number of times since we have started going and it is getting better and better with each new edition. The children adore the pizzas, the grandparents (fish lovers) adore the Fish stew for two .... I graze across the whole menu, from steak (amazing!) to fish to duck, to Italian classics (lasagna etc) and everything in between. Every dish has been wonderful. Al Fresco is our "go to" restaurant when we have visiting friends and we want to bring there somewhere special to celebrate their visit. It is high quality, reasonably priced, amazingly consistent and a lovely relaxed atmosphere. Keep up the great work Eddie and Team, and we will see you again in just a few short weeks! Grazie mille per tutti i pasti meravigliosi!! Fin....
