Can this be explained please ? The so called, 'Breakfast Sandwich' includes 2 pieces of bread with 2 fillings, cool, but can someone tell me why I should have to pay more when asking for 2 pieces of bread with eggs and beans just because it's not a 'Breakfast Sandwich' ? Is it more expensive to make a bacon and sausage sandwich than it is to put 2 pieces of toast with scrambled eggs and a few beans on a plate and sell it to a member of staff ? Seems like incredibly BAD business ethos no ? Cafe boycotted and negative advocacy now in operation.
Response from the owner2 weeks ago Hi Liam,
As we explained at the time 'Something on toast' (which is what you have asked for here) is a different price to a 'Breakfast sandwich' because it is a different dish, different cooking times and contains double the amount of toppings. The difference in price after your staff discount is applied (which is overly generous of us to allow considering you aren't an 'official' staff member at the Garden Centre) equates to 66p. I'm sorry that you won't be back, especially as you work onsite, it must be very inconvenient for you.
Best wishes,
Becky

The reasons I was given were : "Not on Menu" - Kinda like the Cheese Salad Sandwich I used to have -- "Its a negative profit margin." ÂŁ5.60 for a cheese salad sandwich after discount. If you operating a negative profit margin there then ... (What equates to official staff please ? Do I charge for all my work on site ? No. Would that make me a volunteer ? I hope you charge the on-site volunteers full price also because they wouldn't be official staff either right ? Bit confusing so lets work it out. ) -- Putting profit before people isn't smart in my eyes. Especially people who don't mind helping you out when needed/asked. (Which has happened how many times before? Was it on my agenda ? Do I have an agenda ? ) But then again, you might see it as you still being "overly generous". Relativity is an interesting beast isn't it.
No inconvenience really. Just make my own now with the tomatoes and lettuce we grow. A bit cheaper too.
Good luck.
P.s. Do you recognise yourself...
Read moreNever again! I've visited this place twice now. The second time was against my better judgement to be honest, as the first time I visited with family, the teenage front of house staff mysteriously forgot my order (but not the rest of the family's...) Anyway, on this visit, I went to the counter to order (that's right, no table service!) only to be told that my children couldn't have hash browns on their own. I would need to order a "stack". Now I don't know about you, but I would have thought a so-called family friendly cafe would be a little more flexible for children. Disappointing. Very disappointing. Again. The owner's response (below) in which she says, "Swearing in the cafe on departure and taking a picture of our sign to post on here hopefully gave you some level of satisfaction" is completely inaccurate, but I imagine it gives her some level of satisfaction to make it appear as though I was rude and insufferable. However, despite my frustration, my actual utterance was, "Unbelievable! Right, we'll go somewhere else!". I did take a picture of the restaurant sign, as the alternative was a picture of...
   Read moreAbsolutely terrible customer service.
Woe betide anybody who happens to walk through the wrong door. I walked through what was a staff door that was only marked on the inside and only noticeable after having walked through. I was "told off" by one of the serving staff in probably least friendliest tones I have come across.
But to add the cherry on top, a second member of staff thought she ought to pile in too and tell me of also while walking past me and not even bother with eye contact.
After complaining to the lady on the till that I felt rather put out at having been told off twice and that the sign was only on one side, I had the great displeasure of hearing her laugh it off and speak rather disparaging ly about it all when she thought I had left and not within earshot.
A thoroughly miserable customer service experience - I felt like I was back at primary school and being told off by the dinner ladies. Not sure I would have been spoken to this way if I had been a...
