Basset Down Complex — Restaurant in England

As a birthday outing for my now eighty year old husband, we decided to go to Avebury for the day, from the South Wales valleys. There were five of us in all. We were within a few miles of our destination when our car broke down in Hay Lane - thankfully, not on the motorway! The A.A. were duly called and after a wait, the very helpful young man told us that our car would need to be transported back home, for safety sake. The truck would take between two to five hours to arrive with us, but luckily, there was a golf club not too far distant and perhaps they would let us wait there. Well, I have to say that the staff in the restaurant could not have been more helpful or sympathetic to our predicament. They welcomed us in and although they were very close to closing, we were served an excellent meal and told that we were welcome to wait. Everyone was pleasant, friendly and helpful in every way - and they make a great cup of tea! Thankfully, our wait wasn't as long as anticipated and we went on our way. From the moment my son and I arrived, Julie was incredibly welcoming and helpful. She went above and beyond to ensure we had a fantastic experience. Summer holidays are here !! Trying to find something to do with my 14 year old son , can be a nightmare...But he likes football..Bassett down golf course has a 9 and 18 hole football golf course ..kick a ball and get exercise at the same time , win win and it gets my son off his PlayStation.. We've been there the past 2 Mondays (4th ,11th Aug ) ..we both had a good time ..even daddy got a hole in one , on the 8th hole 😁( son not happy 😂)..You can hire footballs if you need ..My only gripe would be the price ..£25 first Monday .The for some reason £26 on the following Monday..1 child 1 adult ..!! £1 less it costs to play 9 hole round of proper golf which takes twice as long ...If you were a family of 4 , £50!!! Crazy.... especially now a days , trying to get kids off there games consoles.. This is a great way of getting out doors any weather and having good fun and exercise...This is something you could do every other week , not a couple of times a year if prices were more reasonable..id certainly come more often and not wait till next summer...
