Terrible pub, no surprise it is run by Youngs. Took ages to get served drinks at the bar from their terrible range of macro lagers when we arrived, so we resorted to ordering via the app. They then came outside and said the app has wrong things on it, such as the lamb hotpot. They then turned off mobile ordering after they received our food orders but never delivered my friends drink. First Sunday roast came before the cutlery so got cold whilst waiting. After a few minutes the other plates came and finally the cutlery with it. We then asked for the salt/pepper and a sauce that was missing from the roast. Instead of a traditional apple sauce they provided some sweet red apple sauce that is not for a roast Pork...
Avoid at all costs if you're doing the chess valley walk unless you want cold food, poor service and your bog standard beers.
RE: Response, it seems to miss the point. Other pubs have apps that work 7 days a week, no response to the missing drink, turning off the app, missing sauce or long waits at the bar. Customer service face to face was pleasant, as you've said, but turning off the app without saying so beforehand seems passive-agressive. Lastly, perhaps the food was already cold when we received it, without cutlery theres no way of checking if your food is hot when received, perhaps we would've known if cutlery was brought...

Two large bones found in the duck starter was not the best of starts. As we were checked in on regularly throughout the three courses and I did mention the issue. To be fair, a young man did return to explain the duck is cooked in-house and sometimes bones can be found. It was agreed that this should really be stated on the menu. I felt this matter was dealt with adequately.
Mains and desserts were great. The trout was well cooked and nicely seasoned. The crumble dessert was sweet!
Overcharged on the mains (one star lost) - Trout should have been £25.00, charged £26.00 (also, trout is same value as seabass?! No) Beef should have been £24.00, charged £24.50 (refer to photos).
One further star lost for the discretionary service charge - my rules are rules! Let the diners decide on any tips. BTW - service was...
Read moreAbsolutely wonderful experience at the Bedford Arms. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, the garden was particularly lovely. Super clean throughout, well-maintained and a perfect spot to relax and enjoy the surroundings. The food exceeded expectations - beautifully presented, flavourful, and clearly made with care, great for catering to a veggie diet! What stood out most, however, was the exceptional service. Evan, in particular, was incredibly professional, friendly, and attentive - he made us feel genuinely welcome and well looked after throughout our visit. We’re already looking forward to our next visit and would highly recommend the Bedford Arms to anyone looking for a high-quality, enjoyable pub...
