Usually a good standard of food but not been for a while. Attended 4/5/23 at 1.20pm. There was no beef on the carvery just turkey and gammon, we wasn't told there was no beef when we attended or got shown to our seat, nor when we ordered food, only once we got to the carvery deck. All the roasts were dry and burnt, literally every single one. The carrot and swede was so watery it was like soup, Cauliflower cheese was similar. There was no Parsnips at all? Only green was Sprouts which were mushy. The Carrots were huge and no flavour to them, gravy was so runny, no thickness to it. The yorkshire pudding was squashed rubbery and I was unable to cut through it, the mash was the best bit but also was flavourless. I don't usually leave bad reviews however I was so disappointed about this meal, I heard few others complaining about this while they was there too and nothing seemed to be changing? Very disappointing, we have eaten at beechwood plenty of times before and always enjoyed it but haven't been for a while so was looking forward to a nice treat, no staff came to us to see if everything was OK, the waitress who showed us to our table seemed annoyed when we asked to be seated next to the child's play area (on an available table) so that we could be close to our child as he played. Don't recommend and I'm not usually one to complain but so very disappointed I wish I'd of seen recent reviews beforehand and gone elsewhere.

I’ve have to say, dont know what’s happening in this place, we used to be regulars, now we go when where desperate for something to eat, as we were on Saturday, there was a new carver on the meats he sliced me 1 slice of turkey on a large carvary and gave me all the dried up bits from previous cuts, all the Yorkshire puddings where crushed up and I got 2 from the dregs of the basket cold, it was only when I turned in over it was green like stale, I kept the other one to take a pic see below! We waited 10 minutes for gravy!! Spoke to a young girl and asked if Karen was in she advised no so I asked who was the on shift manager and found it was the lovely Demi, showed Demi my dinner she kindly brought me 2 fresh Yorkshire puddings and apologised, we laughed as I asked her if they had used auntie betties 12 for £1. Then tucked into my very cold carvery, then I started choking on a turkey bone which if the carver had not given me the scraps that they normally throw out from around the turkey I would not of got well nearly £35 for 2 carvery’s and 2 cokes we can safely say we will not be back. As always Demi would receive a 5* but she was not on the front of house., advisory someone management wise should be the whole carvery came to a standstill for 10 minutes due to no gravy, or potatoes, and to give the carver more training.

Updated 2024 review: Beechwood Farm has been a regular favourite for years, and has just kept getting better! The recent refurbishment has definitely transformed the ambience, and improved the already excellent dining experience. The carvery is still absolutely top notch, the new refillable drinks are very handy, and the staff are all wonderful - with particular thanks to 'Team Awesome' for their always brilliantly friendly and helpful assistance - Especially Kim, Amy, and Ellie (Mae 😉)! (Previous 2019 review: Nice carvery, reasonable prices, helpful staff. Sometimes a bit of a wait, but there are huge desserts to finish off an enjoyable meal.)

A Tale of Two Dinners: A Review of Beachwood Carvery, Grimsby.

Our recent holiday in the Grimsby area led us to Beachwood Carvery, a place we ended up visiting not once, but twice in the same week. This review is a story of two very different experiences, highlighting a stark contrast in service that left us with mixed feelings, yet a desire to return.

Visit 1: A Flawless Carvery Experience Our first visit was everything you could hope for from a classic British carvery. The moment we walked in, we were greeted with a warm and friendly welcome. The atmosphere was bustling but relaxed, and we were seated promptly. The service was top-notch—attentive, efficient, and genuinely pleasant. Our server was on hand to answer any questions and made sure our drinks were topped up. The carvery itself was a feast for the eyes. The roasted meats (gammon, beef, and turkey) were cooked to perfection, and the accompanying vegetables were fresh, hot, and plentiful. We piled our plates high with crispy roast potatoes, fluffy Yorkshire puddings, and a rich, flavourful gravy. The food was delicious, a truly satisfying meal that left us feeling happy and well-fed. This first visit set a high bar, leaving us with a great impression and a unanimous decision to return.

Visit 2: The Carvery Conundrum Our second visit, just a few days later, was a completely different story. It felt as though we had walked into a different restaurant altogether. The moment we arrived, the positive energy of our first visit was replaced by a sense of chaos. The wait to be seated was long, despite a number of empty tables. Once we were finally shown to our table, the service was, to put it mildly, terrible. Our server seemed overwhelmed and inattentive. We waited an unusually long time for the starters and drinks to arrive. The queue for the carvery itself was long, and the staff serving the food seemed flustered and rushed throughout the restaurant. While the food itself was once again of good quality—the meats were tender and the vegetables tasty—the overall experience was soured by the long waits and poor service. The joy of the meal was overshadowed by frustration and a feeling of being forgotten.

The Verdict: A Mixed Bag with a Promising Future So, how do you review a place that offers such a Jekyll and Hyde experience? The truth is, the food at Beachwood Carvery is consistently good. It's a proper, hearty, and delicious carvery that delivers on the promise of a satisfying meal. The wide selection of meats and vegetables ensures there's something for everyone, and the quality is undeniable.

However, the difference in service between our two visits was so significant that it's impossible to ignore. The first visit showed the restaurant at its best—a well-oiled machine with excellent staff. The second visit revealed a breakdown in service and management that needs to be addressed. Despite the negative experience of our second visit, we would still go back. The quality of the food is the main draw, and we believe that the first visit represents the true potential of the restaurant. Hopefully, our second visit was just an off day, a blip in an otherwise great dining experience. For the sake of future diners (and our own taste buds), we hope that Beachwood Carvery can find the consistency in service to match the quality...

Fantastic Family-Friendly Dining at Beechwood Farm, Grimsby

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Beechwood Farm in Grimsby, and I have to say, for a chain restaurant pub, it does an excellent job of delivering great food, a welcoming atmosphere, and outstanding service. From the moment we walked in, we felt at home—the setting is warm, spacious, and perfect for families, couples, and groups alike.

One of the biggest standouts of our visit was the exceptional service from Sarah. She was an absolute star—friendly, attentive, and incredibly professional. She made us feel truly valued as customers, checking in on us just the right amount without being intrusive. She was more than happy to recommend dishes and made sure everything was to our liking. Her warm and cheerful attitude really elevated the whole experience, and it was clear she genuinely cares about providing great service.

Generous Portions and Great Food

The food at Beechwood Farm was impressive, especially considering it’s a chain restaurant. The portion sizes are fantastic—you definitely won’t be leaving hungry! In fact, even the small carvery is more than enough for most appetites. The carvery offers a great selection of meats, all cooked to perfection, along with fresh vegetables, stuffing, and rich, flavorful gravy. The meat was tender and juicy, and the roast potatoes were crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside. It’s an excellent choice if you’re looking for a satisfying, homely meal.

I opted for the mixed grill, and it was outstanding. The portion was incredibly generous, featuring a perfectly cooked steak that was juicy and full of flavor, a deliciously charred gammon steak, a well-seasoned chicken breast, a couple of sausages, a fried egg, and a grilled tomato. Everything was cooked to perfection, and the variety of meats meant there was something different in every bite. The meal came with a side of chunky chips, which were golden and crispy, as well as garden peas and onion rings that were light, crispy, and not greasy at all. It’s a fantastic option if you’re looking for a hearty and satisfying meal.

A Great Spot for Families

What really sets Beechwood Farm apart is how family-friendly it is. There’s a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, and the staff are great with kids. The play area is a nice touch, keeping little ones entertained while adults can sit back and enjoy their meals. The restaurant itself is clean, well-maintained, and spacious, so even when it’s busy, it doesn’t feel overcrowded.

Final Thoughts

For a chain pub restaurant, Beechwood Farm does a fantastic job of delivering great food, excellent portion sizes, and outstanding service. The value for money is brilliant—you’re getting big, well-cooked meals at very reasonable prices. Sarah’s friendly and professional service made a huge difference, and I can’t praise her enough. Whether you’re stopping by for a carvery, a mixed grill, or just a casual meal with family, this is definitely a place worth visiting. We’ll be...

Restaurant Review: A Family Dining Experience

Visiting a family-friendly restaurant can be an exciting adventure, especially when dining with a larger group. Recently, I had the opportunity to enjoy a meal with my partner and our four children. Here's a comprehensive review of our experience.

Booking and Atmosphere: It's always a good idea to book ahead, particularly on weekends, as this restaurant tends to be quite busy. The bustling atmosphere is lively, making it a popular choice for families.

The Meal: I ordered a burger, while my partner opted for the carvery. The carvery was a hit with my partner, who thoroughly enjoyed it. My burger was flavorful, though the buns were disappointingly flaky and fell apart as I ate. Despite this, the overall taste was lovely. Children's Options

We encountered a hiccup when attempting to order baby food, as the restaurant had run out. Given that baby food is a basic menu item, this was quite surprising. The staff suggested we share our carvery with our youngest, which was less than ideal. When we requested a small portion of mac and cheese, we were informed that only a standard portion was available.

Cleanliness and Service: Glassware Concerns A significant issue we faced was the cleanliness of the drink glasses. Two of our glasses had noticeable lipstick marks. This lack of attention to hygiene is concerning and suggests a need for more stringent cleaning checks.

Staff Interaction: The staff were friendly but not particularly helpful or engaging. Their role seemed limited to seating us and delivering our food. For example, we weren't offered a high chair and had to locate one ourselves.

Pricing and Amenities: The cost of the meal was reasonable, especially compared to similar pub restaurants. One standout feature of the restaurant is the kids' play area, which is thoughtfully divided into sections for different age groups. This is a wonderful addition that can keep children entertained.

Overall Impressions: Overall, our dining experience was pleasant, though not exceptional. There is certainly room for improvement, especially concerning hygiene standards and staff engagement. Implementing stricter policies to ensure cleanliness and encouraging staff to be more attentive and interactive with customers could significantly enhance the dining experience.

In conclusion, while the meal was enjoyable and the atmosphere lively, some improvements could elevate this restaurant to a...
