Lovely friendly village pub. Went for Sunday lunch with family. Dining area was comfortable and bright. For Sunday lunch there was a choice of three meats. We all chose beef. The meals appeared freshly cooked and were served on hot plates. A generous portion of meat served with a large homemade Yorkshire pudding. Leeks and both mashed and roast potatoes served on the plate with a side order of gravey and separate dish of red cabbage, carrot and swede mash and broccoli. More than enough to go round a table of 5. Friendly and attentive staff. Only our daughter had room for dessert - ice cream sundae which looked divine. I forgot to take a photo of our main course, we were too eager to tuck in! Highly recommended and will...
Read moreDisappointing meal. Both had lamb shank but after a long wait of over an hour in an empty restaurant, we were disappointed that the food was so tasteless and clearly frozen / reheated in the microwave. Wasn’t helped by the bar staff chatting endlessly behind the bar whilst we sat in a room with 3 tables that all needed clearing. Got fed up with the flies attacking us. One table with dirty plates that was empty when we arrived at 7.30pm was finally cleared at 9pm. We did say when it came to paying that it hadn’t been good but the staff just said sorry and took the payment. They weren’t interested in finding out what had gone wrong. No one asked us if the meal was okay whilst we were eating. Awful place wouldn’t...
Read moreThe food was really great, the portion sizes are generous for the Sunday lunches we ordered, they happily accommodated our fussy eaters too despite the kids menu being off while lunch was served, which saved us a huge headache. The play area was great, service was excellent, I ordered a drink for our youngest and went to the loo whilst my order was sorted, when I returned they'd already taken it out to him at the top of the beer garden. Lots of kids (mostly ours) played football in the small goal, which again was great as it kept them entertained for an hour. The only remotely negative bit was our daughter's giant pink tennis ball went missing, which meant I had to walk half a mile with a sulking 9yr old on my...
