Booked the room with four post bed for a night away from work and reality. The room was very large, warm and spotlessly clean. A bit dated but its a country pub, not a boutique and very well priced. Lovely and quiet at night being at the back of the pub. Great view of the surrounding farmland too. The bar is well stocked and has staropramen on draught so absolutely no complaints. Fire was very cosy on a wet and stormy night. Ate in the restaurant and staff were very efficient. Food was very tasty and plenty of it. I chose the scampi and my wife had the Barnsley chop, both delicious. All in all really enjoyed our stay, we would recommend a stay or a stop off.

The food here was amazing !! Quality dining . A choice of 3 areas to dine restaurant, lounge with log fire or bar. If you dine here you are in good company , the pub is actually owned by the Duchy of Lancaster and were joined by the Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh for lunch .The occasion was marked by a large photograph of Her majesty and a case contains the menu, pen she signed the visitor book with etc. The chairs they sat on are to one side with a Q and a P on the back legs to show who sat where. The overnight accommodation was either in rooms above the pub or a little annexe. We were in the latter. All mid cons and an excellent stay .

Stopped off for an evening meal (at 7.40pm on Friday 5 July 2024, noting other pubs stop serving food a lot earlier!) working our way back from Scarborough to Whitby on our holiday in Yorkshire. Lovely country cosy atmosphere pub with friendly staff. After a refreshing Grapefruit gin & lemonade (handpicked by the lady), my wife & I both had the Horseshoe gammon & all the trimmings. Very tasty it was too, and you could tell it was proper hand cooked and not the mass produced type. With our stomachs full, we carried on to our touring caravan campsite in Higher Normanby a lot for the better for a tasty meal.

Spacious car park. Extremely welcoming and friendly owners and staff. We travelled as a couple and a single friend. Check-in was smooth and efficient for us, but our friend had an issue with her booking, resulting in her not having a reservation. The staff and the owner couldn't have done enough to help. They didn't have a room for her the first night, but thebowner ran another local establishment and managed to get her a room at the Station, which was a short walk away and again, was a lovely friendly place. She was, however, able to stay at the Blacksmith Arms for the second night.||Rooms: we had a superior 4 poster overlooking the car park. The room was bright, spacious, and very clean. The only negative to this room was that it's above the kitchen, so you hear the extractor fan. This didn't bother us as it wasn't constant or too loud, but if you're sensitive to noise, it's worth noting. The bed was one of the comfiest that I have slept in, with good quality pillows and bedding. Our friend had a room in the annexe, which was also lovely. It was more modern but still cosy with the same attention to detail. These rooms are also good for anyone with access issues.|Food: Great breakfast, with food cooked to order. |We ate in the restaurant on both nights. We all enjoyed the food we had. The service was excellent, and again, all the food is cooked from fresh, so you may have to wait, but it's worth it.|Bar: lovely atmosphere in the bar, with a good choice of beers and wines.|Location: we left the car parked up for two days as there is a bus stop outside, with a 1/2 hourly service to either Scarborough, Whitby, Robin Hoods Bay. Unfortunately, there was an accident on the main Whitby to Scarborough Road, which did affect the afternoon bus service. We used a local taxi to get back from Scarborough, which was £15.00.|All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, excellent pub/hotel, great hosts, good location - would definitely stay here again, and have no hesitation in...

Stayed here for one night last weekend, a bit of a mixed bag is probably the best way to sum it up. The room was lovely, with a comfy bed so had a good night sleep. A couple of pints of very good real ale did help. the bathroom is nice and large but found the shower a bit inconsistent as the water kept going from hot to cold. Dinner in the evening was nice. We didn't have a reservation but the staff accommodated us with a table at a busy time for them. The menu is very basic but well cooked. dessert was clearly home made and the highlight of the evening. A bit of background music or live music would have been nice. Breakfast in the morning was disappointing. we were let into a cramped front room with tables so close together it was hard to get through.|I made the effort to get us some orange juice on an otherwise limited table of continental items but left it at that. A full Breakfast with no beans, hash brown or Back pudding ( I know it's not everybody's cup of tea) and a chipolata sausage left me underwhelmed. We did get some luke warm beans once we asked for it.||Overall we had an enjoyable stay but was it value for money?...

My wife and I went for one night but it was a good night . Owners were in London at a Coldplay concert which I hope they enjoyed and the son was helping out and did an excellent job. Offered to help carry bags showed us the room had a laugh and chat so all good . The food was excellent wife had pie and veg and I had haddock and chips and both cooked to perfection, only problem was too much food as wife couldn’t eat it all ha ha , so good sized portions . Good drinks on tap and room was excellent , four poster bed and so soft and comfortable . Went to leave without breakfast but was told we could just have coffee if that’s all we wanted but after seeing brekky decided to have a cooked one , full breakfast was good and poached eggs on toast fantastic , can’t understand the odd complaints saying no beans but if you ask for them you will get them . The Blacksmith arms inn service and food was 100% excellent in my opinion and would not hesitate to recommend...
