Booked a table for me my partner and our two young children including high chairs on a Sunday for 13:30 online, unfortunately we had some mechanical problems with our car which required several stops on the half hour drive from home to the pub which made us late by 25 mins. I rang the pub 10 mins before arrival to explain with no answer. When I went in to check our table was still available was told quite abruptly that it had been given away as there is a 15 minute only waiting period as was evident it was very busy, when I told the woman I had rang she pointed at the phones and rudely said look they never rang basically implying I was a liar despite having the call on my call list 🤷 when been shown to our table, we asked about high chairs for our toddlers, to be informed no high chairs were available leaving my partner to sit with both toddlers on her knee even when the food arrived we still had no high chairs. We then had to wait a further 20 mins for a high chair and only 1 was available. Added to this the burger main had hardly any chips and certainly wasn't worth the £13.50 price tag. After the meal we went outside to wait for the AA to arrive because despite the presumed manager's disbelief we had genuine problems with our car. We went on the playground to keep the kids occupied to then get a phonecall asking for payment for the bill, even though we were clearly still there and this is after my partner had just been in to buy another drink! Wouldn't visit again or recommend but will give an extra star as the young serving staff were polite and prompt. Additionally as an update to your reply the table was booked for 13:30 and I have an email from you confirming this, so unless you have made a mistake the 1 pm booking ‘correction' is a lie to cover...

I was really disappointed with our service here recently. Blown away actually! We went on a sunny Monday afternoon in early June. We decided to sit outside amongst the loose chickens, which was nice. I was very excited by several on the starters on the menu, at least 4 sounded right up my street. Unfortunately, when I went in to order, the lady at the till very extremely rude to me. It took a few minutes to even be acknowledged (inside was empty by the way, due to the sun everyone had ventured outside), then an older lady finally came over to me. Not sure if she was a manager. I started by asking about one of the starters, to which she actually snapped at me saying “if you’re having a starter you’ll have to have it at the same time as your main”. At first I just looked at her confused, then I asked her what she meant. Her response floored me - “we’re not running in and out so you’ll have to have it with your main”. I said that’s not really how starters work. She repeated again how they “won’t be running in and out”. What I said have done at that moment was leave, but instead I just ordered the main we had planned. While eating my not at all hot burger, I saw a man and his child finishing their main and ordering dessert. The waitresses brought this out. Your attitude is absolutely disgusting. What kind of business are you? Picking and choosing who is worthy of being waited? I didn’t deserve to be spoken to in that way at all. I was so excited when I came in to order my starters. On the bright side, the waitress was lovely.

Response to the reply left by the pub* I actually asked the woman if I could order a starter then come back when finished and order a main and she said absolutely not. So that negates what...

Such a disappointing visit - we’d wanted to come here for ages having driven past many a time. Finally got childcare arranged for our 3 children to have lunch out for our anniversary.

Got to the pub and admittedly I do have a few allergies to cater for (feeding a baby who has allergies), so had to avoid dairy, egg and gluten. As I usually do in most restaurants, I opted for the burger (minus the bun) which I was told they didn’t have any of. Extremely disappointing straightaway - who runs out of burgers?! After some back and forth between the (very kind) waitress and kitchen, we established that none of the main meals I liked were suitable as all contained allergens. I had to make do with one of the nibbles plates (peri chicken wings) as a main with some chips on the side.

Between first seating and finally receiving my husbands starter this took well over an hour, then approx another 20 mins between taking his plate away and serving mains.

The chicken wings were nice (albeit extremely spicy for me but I’m not the best with spice), but was extremely disappointed to find the chips were so burnt that they were dry! Was like eating burnt crisps with the texture/flavour (picture doesn’t even do it justice).

By the time I’d finished we’d been there nearly 2 hours. Such a pity as the pub itself - inside and outside - had such a lovely atmosphere, but given the shambles with trying to order a suitable meal (disappointing lack of options on the dessert menu - gluten free vegan is not too much to ask as had it at other restaurants!) and the very slow service we won’t be returning. Not an enjoyable way to spend our...

We have been meaning to visit here since the refurb and truly wish we hadn’t of bothered. Upon arrival we found it very difficult to get seated. After being eventually served and shoved up a corner we found the waiting staff to be in a rush despite the pub only being at approximately 1/4 of the capacity. After looking at the menu we thought the food was very over priced compared to what we have had at much higher quality restaurants so ordered a portion of cheesy chips and 2 kids burgers from the children’s menu. The kids meals were very slap dash with no care on presentation at all. The burgers were dry along with a stale bun and handful of skin on fries that were hard and cold. There was no salad or option to add a side of veg or carbs as many other restaurants do. We tried for over 20 minutes to grab the attention of one of the waiters before having to get up ourselves to complain about the kids meals. Once we finally spoke to the manger her attitude was poor and although she removed the meals from the bill, she did not offer an apology for the poor quality of the meals and instead insisted “this is how we serve them”. The only positive that we could find is that the restaurant is very nicely decorated hence the 2 stars. All in all a wasted journey and will not be visiting again or recommending to anyone else.

Came here for my sisters birthday. I often order from either the small plate or children's menu due to dietary requirements, I was refused this despite explaining said dietary issues forcing me to pay double what I usually would. My sister ordered her starter to be told "it's not on the menu", she had to point it out on their menu in front of our server before they would let her order it. The starter my brother ordered, we were told they had none (not entirely sure if we xould believe this though given my sisters experience). Our food was brought to us after an hour and 20 minutes, they gave me the meat meal when I ordered the vegetarian, the chili con carne was more chili peppers than anything and the portion for the cost is downright shameful. We also had to wait a long time for a server to actually come and take our order in the first place. The cosy atmosphere is literally the ONLY saving grace of the evening. The pub puts events on every so often which are very good, but I definitely wouldn't return for any kind of meal, never mind a celebration one.
