I don’t take any pleasure in leaving negative reviews but our experience here on Saturday night was just awful. We were contacted on Saturday morning to advise that our initial booking at 8pm had been pushed back to 8:30pm. When we arrived we were ignored. It was very busy, however, just an acknowledgment to say we’ll be with you in a moment would have been enough. When someone finally came over to us we were advised our table wasn’t ready. This wasn’t a problem as it was a beautiful summers evening and they had a seating area where we could wait; we were seated after only a few minutes.

The waiter was sadly very distracted when he took our food order and was far from pleasant, unlike the other staff we interacted with. When food eventually arrived at our table at approx 9:45 it was not the food we had ordered. They assured us they would fix the issue and would prepare fresh items for us. We finally received our food at 10pm, however, my husband’s meal was clearly the exact same dish that they had brought over to us a few minutes before and they then realised that my main dish was missing an item so took it away again to add this. When it was returned it appeared almost as if they had removed half of the vegetables and replaced it with just 4/5 pieces of tofu. There was no way that this was a “main dish” as had been ordered. We asked if we could have some more vegetable prepared. Again this took so long that by the time they bought it over, we had finished eating. When we explained we no longer wanted it they bagged it up and bought it back to the table- I didn’t want food to take away I just wanted to enjoy my meal.

It isn’t acceptable to be seated at 8:30 and to have to wait for food until 10pm - it was ridiculously late and not one member of staff appeared to notice during this time that we had still not been served any food. They did provide complimentary desserts as means of an apology which we accepted, but these failed to make up for an hour and a half wait for food.

It was such a shame as the restaurant and garden area are beautiful and the food we did eat was delicious, but sadly the service left an awful lot to be desired on Saturday night and they had clearly taken more bookings than what they were able...

Based on your response and lack of accountability i'm changing my rating to a 1.00

Very disappointing experience. My partner and I came here to celebrate our 9 year anniversary with a booking at 7.30.

Instead of seating us on arrival, we were made to wait in the lobby for 30 minutes, with constant people banging into us!

And not just us, other people had the same experience, with one man pointing out that he has elderly parents with him, but the staff just shrugged it off leaving them and us waiting.

The worst part, was that multiple large groups of people with much later bookings just walked in and were seated immediately.

This is EXTREMELY disrespectful to your customers, as you clearly value the money more, rather than supplying a good customer service.

If I turned up 30 minutes late to most restaurants without giving notice, they would either charge a no-show fine or decline to offer service. The fact you think it acceptable for customers to wait 30 minutes for a table when they made a reservation is really shocking!

The only reason we got a table in the end was because I told the barman (after complaining multiple times) that we were leaving!

It took 20 minutes just to get a drink, we had to ask for crackers (while everyone else had them placed on their tables immediately), napkins were dirty..... just goes on...

Food I don't really have any complaints over, the soup was amazing which is why you don't have a 1-star.

We've been coming here for 9 years to celebrate our anniversary and also valentines day every year, but I doubt we will be back after this...

They knocked 10% off our meal for the "inconvenience". My partner didn't want me to make a scene on our anniversary there so i'm leaving the...

Having spent hundreds of pounds in this place and always been good regulars we were severely let down. There is always the odd item missing but the food is usually ok and I never ring to complain as there’s usually plenty for all. For the second consecutive delivery, the restaurant failed to take notice of my wife’s allergy despite me advising them and then having it repeated back over the phone they still made the same mistake. A fortnight ago I had to throw part of the meal straight in the bin as the restaurant failed to listen to the allergy advice I provided, a real shame as this both a waste of food and money. Unfortunately on the second occasion my wife and I both failed to notice that the allergen was in the food and we both ate it which caused my wife to have an allergic reaction! In addition to this, they also forgot my sons main meal which was a curry. In fairness they did offer to redeliver in the curry within 15 minutes but that wasn’t honoured either and was outside of this timeframe so decided to cancel that too as both the meal and our evening was ruined. An hour and half after ordering all I had was a load of side dishes and one main meal for a family of four on a Saturday night and £60 out of pocket! What a treat! I called the restaurant to request a full refund for putting my family at risk due to their negligence and and ruining the meal but was told that they were only willing to replace or refund the two items that were wrong/late which is quite frankly ridiculous. If you do suffer with allergies please be extremely careful to check your food before consuming because these guys don’t bother to check. I will never ever order from this...

Came to Blue Orchid for my birthday meal. My wife booked in advance so we didn’t need to wait to be seated. We went with a pushchair for a baby, and the staff were super helpful in manoeuvring it to our table (this stood out to me as they didn’t need to do that for us, yet made that effort). Customer service here was 10/10. Respectful and polite waiters/waitresses. The atmosphere was really nice, it was a full house when we went and the vibe was great. With regards to the food, we went for Set Menu B. I’m not usually a fan of Thai style curries but the curries here were very tasty. On Google it says Blue Orchid is Thai, however, they do have an Indian menu also. Therefore, you have a broad range of options.

Easy to get to the restaurant. Parking spaces are available adjacent to the restaurant and on the opposite road. The interior was beautiful and felt very magical! We were greeted by a lovely lady and did not have to wait very long to be seated. The staff were kind and understanding when we suddenly had to leave early during our booking. The atmosphere was inviting and peaceful. We had the thai curry, lamb pieces, chicken satay, and grilled chicken sizzler, prawn crackers and some drinks. The bill was reasonably priced. Everything but the duck is halal which we were happy about! The only con is the seating area (very close to other tables).
