If youβre ever in the mood for a masterclass in customer service gone wrong, look no further than this fine establishment. Serving behind the bar is a lady with an attitude so sharp youβd think weβd asked her to donate a kidney, not pour a drink.
First off, I dared to order a pint of Coke (wild, I know). Unfortunately, I made the rookie error of not specifically requesting ice, so she announced she couldnβt possibly fill the glass to the top. Because apparently, in this pub, ice isnβt optionalβitβs structural. Without it, physics prevents liquids from reaching the rim. Go figure.
Next came the table situation. Our group of 12 (including three heavily pregnant women) was told we couldnβt sit together because only half of us were eating. This might have been understandable if the dining area wasnβt completely empty. There were at least 15 tables free, but apparently, vacant furniture is just for decoration.
Her attitude could curdle milk, and the customer service left us wondering if weβd wandered into some kind of hidden-camera show. Honestly, if thereβs ever a live-action reboot of Matilda, this lady has the Miss Trunchbull role locked in.
Management tip: swap her out for a traffic cone with a smiley face drawn on. Same warmth,...
Β Β Β Read moreWe had an exceptional meal here 3 weeks previously. Without doubt the best steak and ale pie we'd ever encountered. Having returned for more of the same we were very disappointed with our repeat order. Previously we were impressed with delicious homemade pie with 'melt in the mouth' steak filling and plenty of well prepared fresh veg. Second time around we were served soggy pastry with dried out edges and meat that was really hard to chew. Pretty typical of pie which has been re-heated in a microwave leaving the centre over-cooked. The mashed potato was very stodgy and vegetables not as good as previously. Two of us have previously owned hospitality businesses so we know a bit about food service. When this pub gets it right it's excellent but it's been inconsistent in our experience and from the reaction to our comments (or lack of reaction) the hosts may be getting a bit complacent and will need to do better if their business hopes to survive these...
Β Β Β Read morePaying a visit to Northwich I was reccomended this place for food. #OMG. In all my travels this has to be the place where I have had THE best pub food bar non. Being Vegetarian they had a great selection to choose from. I went with the home made quiche.(The biggest portion I've ever had) It was amazing. It came with salad & home made coleslaw. My wife opted for the Chicken Balti. She too said it was one of the best curries she had ever tasted. The portion size is amazing (Big Plates) Bread & butter pudding for dessert. I would suggest calling up before hand as it was busy when were were there on a Friday night. Trust me you will NOT be dissapointed. Will be back again next time we visit Northwich. We went again on Monday Sept 28th & took two friends. Before 5pm we chose from the Lite Bites Menu. OMG Ive been to pubs & restaurants who on a full menu the portions were not even a quarter size of what we had. Truly amazing food. You have to pay this...
