The perfect birthday dinner! An elevated dining experience featuring exceptional service and authentic Italian flavours (and a few surprises). We dined on a Wednesday to enjoy “Pasta Wednesday” menu (£25pp for 3 pastas to share, family-style). Drink recommendations: prosecco, montepulciano, pinot grigio- all were perfect. Pasta recommendations (my partner is pescatarian): penne with hot smoked salmon flambéed with chili vodka and cream (served with a chili vodka shot!), Caldesi’s famous seabass ravioli in a butter and lemon sauce, fettuccini with wild mushrooms.. all stunning! Dress code: smart casual. The staff were fantastic- warm and attentive. Giancarlo Caldesi was kind enough to pop by the table to welcome us and share the meaning of a few personal items displayed on the wall… loved how fresh focaccia was offered with every pasta dish to do ‘scarpetta’ .. and believe me the sauce flavours are so good you’ll want to wipe each plate clean! This is the type of establishment that takes pleasure in going the extra mile. I loved our dining experience from start to finish and look forward to returning in the future with friends and family.

Having earned its own reputation in the gastronomic gauntlet of little Bray village, we were eager to sample good Italian cuisine. We decided to give our lunch a seafood twist and started off with the seafood tempura. The batter was soft and crispy and not it felt like it had a quick dip in the oil rather a deep dunk. This let the fish beneath the batter retain all its flavour and freshness. For our main we tried the seafood pasta. We were delighted to find a good variety of seafood in the dish from prawns, squid, mussels and clams. The pasta was fresh and had nice bite to the texture. The dessert menu is great too and you’ll definitely be able to find something on their to suit you. But the churros deserve a special mention for being warm, sweet and deliciously addictive. Overall we had a lovely lunch and it was refreshing to see that although the menu was simple the flavours were anything but. The service was of course exemplary and if you fancy a genuine Italian experience you’ll find it in the middle of a little English village.

We got takeaway for collection for my Grandparents 62nd Wedding Anniversary- they don't leave the house much but have a love for Italian cuisine. The food was hot/chilled as needed and cooked to perfection. When we arrived to collect the food we were welcomed to open windows and a buzz of conversations floating out of the them. There was a warmth and style about the venue that was like a invitation to enter. There was a short wait for the food- this was actually quite good because we were watching a chap behind the bar make a beautiful looking cocktail. In under 10 minutes the food was bought to us, in paper bag inside there were easily transportable containers. We would hearty recommend the slow cooked lamb shoulder, the panna cotta and the dessert cheese board. The next must do is to eat in!

We were a table of 4 on a Saturday evening. The atmosphere was buzzing, and right off the bat, the cocktails were immaculate. We tried the Amalfi spritz, the Passionfruit Martini and the no alcohol Elderflower Hugo - God that was delicious. The food was all mouth wateringly good.

Before we even started, the bread was soft, springy and perfectly seasoned, served with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. The olives were the biggest and juciest i've ever seen. We ordered the courgette flower salad, scallops, grana padano cheese flan and beef ragu pasta to start with. All were delicious. For main, the truffle tagliolini with butter sauce was super decadent and packed with flavour. The tuscan seafood stew, calf's liver and stuffed chicken breast were all enjoyed and shared bites between ourselves. For dessert the chocolate fondant was perfectly cooked and not too sweet/ not too bitter for me. The Bomboloni looked like churros but with the texture of a doughnut and we loved the dipping custard and jam. Vanilla pannacotta and roast peach were thoroughly enjoyed as well. The wine was great, service was warm and efficient. Giancarlo himself greeted us and even gave a bottle of olive oil with his face on it :)

Overall, we had a fabulous time, ate incredibly well and wouldn't hesitate to return. 5 stars. Thank you for a...

I was looking forward to coming here for a while as moved to the area just before lockdown. Had ordered a couple of takeaways during that period and had been impressed by the quality of the food. Had a well made cocktail on arrival, service was good and a nicely made and presented starter. The big down side was we had to leave half way through the main course due to a fish bone being lodged in my wife’s throat. She had a main of mixed seafood inc some sea bass (I would say) presented as a fillet. There was no warning during the service of this that there were serious bones to look out for. When we got home I managed to get the bone out with tweezers and a torch , it was about an inch long. So paying for two courses but eating/enjoying one and leaving half a bottle of wine not drunk somewhat soured the experience. During what obviously an uncomfortable situation for my wife the staff were polite and caring but ultimately it was presented as the diners risk. I’ll leave others to decide if this is acceptable, I’m really not sure either way. It was a shame. Perhaps these...
