Huge overhaul required to make this business work: Unfortunately all the bad reviews you have read are true. We will not be going there again and perhaps that's what they want, as despite the restaurant always being almost empty, staff are not available for customers. Often the staff are no where to be found during opening hours. Here is a summary I found via AI support, and in my opinion it is very accurate as I have been there a few times and agree with this summary by AI:
Online reviews for the Beefeater in the Truro area, located at the Carnon Inn, highlight frequent issues with slow and disorganized service, as well as inconsistent food quality. While some customers have had positive experiences, many recent reviews mention disappointment, especially concerning meals and staff attitude. Service-related complaints Slow service: A common theme in bad reviews is the significant wait time for food, even when the restaurant does not appear to be busy. Some customers report waiting an hour or more for their meals. Rude and unhelpful staff: Several reviews describe staff as rude, abrupt, and uninterested in helping customers. In some instances, management has been described as lacking basic customer service skills. Understaffing: During peak times, the restaurant appears to be understaffed, which contributes to the slow service and difficulty getting attention. Food-related complaints Poorly cooked meals: Many diners report that their meals were either overcooked or undercooked. Examples include steaks being "cremated" when ordered medium-rare and fish that was greasy or dry due to overcooked batter. Inconsistent quality: Reviewers mention a noticeable inconsistency in the food quality. In one case, a family had a great Sunday roast on one visit, only to return later for a terrible, cold, and tasteless meal. Missing ingredients or items: Some customers have received dishes that were missing advertised ingredients or parts of the meal. In other cases, items from the menu were unavailable, such as jacket potatoes or prawn cocktails. Other issues Tired and unkempt interior: Some reviewers describe the restaurant as "looking a little tired" and in need of renovation. Reports also mention scuffed walls, dirty chairs, and general litter. Reward card problems: Some users of the Beefeater reward program have experienced issues with promised vouchers not being delivered. Note: It is worth noting that reviews are subjective and cover a span of several years. Some positive reviews exist, often praising specific dishes or mentioning friendly individual servers. However, the volume and consistency of negative feedback regarding service and food quality point to ongoing issues at...
Read moreI have been frequent in Beefeater for the past two years during my work visits to Truro, and I must say that my overall experience has been a rollercoaster ride. As a loyal customer who stays at the same hotel with colleagues on a regular basis, I have had both wonderful and disappointing moments at this restaurant.
In the beginning, our visits to Beefeater were consistently enjoyable. The service was impeccable, and the staff always made us feel welcome and valued as hotel guests. The delicious food and warm ambiance kept us coming back for more. It was a place we could count on to relax and unwind after long, exhausting work shifts.
However, in recent times, our experiences at Beefeater Truro have taken a downturn. On several occasions, we've been turned away despite being hotel guests, and even when the restaurant was open and with less guests, they seemed reluctant to accommodate us after 8 pm. This has put us in a difficult situation, leaving us with limited dining options late in the evening, which is when we typically finish our work.
The most concerning aspect of our recent experiences is the growing perception among some of my colleagues that we might be facing discrimination. Many of us work in the NHS and hail from diverse backgrounds as migrants. It's disheartening to feel unwelcome and excluded, especially when we have been loyal customers of Beefeater for such an extended period.
As someone who has enjoyed great service from here in the past, I hope this recent decline in the quality of treatment is only temporary. I understand that businesses face challenges and changes, but it's crucial for the management to remember the importance of treating all customers fairly and respectfully.
I genuinely hope that this place takes these concerns to heart and works towards improving their service to all customers, regardless of their profession or origin. Truro is a city known for its warmth and hospitality, and I believe that it's in the best interest of Beefeater Truro to align with the welcoming spirit of the community.
Despite these recent setbacks, I am optimistic that my future visits to Beefeater Truro will be as delightful as they used to be. I believe in giving second chances, and I genuinely hope to witness a positive change in the restaurant's approach to customer service.
In summary, I recommend this place with a cautious outlook. If you're looking for a cozy and welcoming dining experience, it's worth giving a try. However, I urge the management to address the issues mentioned above promptly, as they are vital for maintaining the loyalty and satisfaction of...
Read moreWell what a experience. I decided to take my wife and 7 year old son for lunch Monday 28th October. We arrived at 11.45 and eventually after a few daggers a lady came across and said we don’t serve until 12 but you can wait. We said that’s fine and got given a nice table. 12.15 someone eventually rushed over and took our order. Our starters arrived 45 mins after we arrived. I had the mushrooms from the specials in some sort of batter, it was so over cooked it nearly broke my teeth I explained to the waitress it was like eating a bag of stones. Worst thing I have ever tasted. My wife had the potatoes and was ok. I told the waitress about the mushrooms and all she said was sorry and then moved on quickly. Another 30 mins and our mains arrived we both had the gammon from the specials and my son had cod bites. His cod bites were burnt and he struggled to eat them. Well our gammon meal was horrible. Shrivelled up fatty small gammon and over cooked. Chips looked dirty some were rock hard some were like mash potatoe. The egg was slapped on top of the gammon and looked disgusting with the clear part of the egg still clear. So the egg was badly cooked. We finished eating so went to the toilet to find the toilet cubicle door was broke and had no lock on it and there was toilet roll all over the seat. We then decided to reluctantly pay for our horrible meal and not once did we get a apology or a offer of a discount. As I was paying there was a elderly gentlemen with a walking stick lent against the desk waiting for someone to show him to a table. He kindly asked if anyone was coming and rudely was told back the other 2 lady’s are serving other customers and I’m busy serving we will be with you when I can. He quietly said nothing but I felt very sorry for him. There was only 6 tables in the restaurant at that stage. Don’t no what would happen if it was busy there. On a final note then her till went wrong so she was cursing it. She eventually got it working. So 2 hours after our arrival for a quick bit of lunch we left in disgust and will never return. I run a business in central Truro and if I was the managers of this establishment I would be re training my staff and certainly the chef. My advice is stay away there are plenty more better places to...
