Ok let me explain. The chances are you are reading this to decide whether to visit the Carts Bog Inn this review will manage your expectations. Like us you will have viewed the online menu and decided on what to have prior to arrival. So my wife and I arrived for our pre booked table which is a must as it gets very busy. We were greeted by a young lady and the drinks order was taken and we sat at our allocated table. Drinks arrived followed by the menu which was basically a fraction of what they advertise online. For a start my wife was going to have the Bog Burger but this was not on the physical menu along with other items we had seen online. So my wife decided to have the only other thing she liked which was lasagna which to be honest you can get in most places so nothing special here. We then made our choices for starters and my main the Carts Bog Pie which along with their burger is a signature dish. We were then shown the specials board which was ok but nothing that we really wanted there. The young lady came to take the order so we asked for load potato skins to be told they didn’t have any only plain ones. Now this was only 6pm and they had run out of them? Surely any good chef would know if something is a popular dish to have enough to see each cover had the options which remember were already reduced. Ok so we took the plain ones. We then ordered mains and I asked for the Carts Bog Pie to be told that they didn’t know if there was enough filling to fulfill that order as they had just had an order for 9 pies? The young lady said she would have to wait to see if the chef had enough. Now to be honest by this point I was amazed that a chef who is producing signature dishes didn’t know if they would have enough to allow the order. Any chef worth their salt knows that if they prepare X weight of ingredients then you get Y amount of products, yes. Of course so! Because if you can’t workout that calculation how do you know the cost of each dish and what to charge. Even if they did know this equation then have a tally board in the kitchen to know how many pies you have made and how many you have left in the ingredients to make more. Or better still make enough to cover the entire day rather than creating potential disappointment for those visiting to have the “Famous Bog Pie”. So the starters came and were fine then I had confirmation that there was enough for my Bog Pie. But let’s remember there were still people arriving to dine here and the menu was limited and then some items were not available!!!! So the food was nice with good sized portions and the service was fine. Would I recommend here well the answer is simple in yes if you live near but if traveling any distance then no as the menu is limited and then it is luck if you can get what you want from it. So all in all good food with a Faulty Tower...

A true hidden gem in Northumberland. The Carts Bog offers a warm cosy retreat after whatever day you've had. The atmosphere was welcoming with a roaring fire and country music on in the back ground. Service was great and everyone here is so friendly, especially the couple running it. Graham is truly passionate about food and catering for people. The dishes he's put together are just proper comfort food, warming and delicious. I had the steak medallion special which was cooked to perfection, followed by the best Sticky Toffee Pudding I've ever had. Usually the sauce gives you that tickle in the back of your throat and leaves you feeling sickly, not this pudding! Warm, velvety and leaves you begging for more. All the other puds are made on site too and are equally delightful. If you're passing through or a local, please give this place a try, I'm confident you...

It was our first visit to Carts Bog Inn & we weren't disappointed - we had a nice welcome as we approached the Bar, as it was a Thursday evening we chose which table we wanted to sit at. The Menu had a good selection of Starters & Main Dishes (Not a huge Menu) but something for everyone. You had to ask for Vegetarian options. I had the Belly Pork with Blackpudding, mash, Peppercorn sauce & Vegetables, everything was cooked perfectly - Delicious 😋 My Partner opted for Scampi with homemade Chips which he said was very good. We shared Lemon Posset & Lemon Meringue Icecream for Desert - served with 2 shots of Limoncello 🍋 - it was amazing - thought I'd died & gone to Lemon heaven 😋 Will definitely be making another visit to this Pub, lovely friendly staff & nothing is too much trouble - Excellent Food They also have 2 gorgeous Whippet...

Excellent pub restaurant near Langley in Northumberland. The menu included what was described as the famous Bog Pie which I had read about....slow braised beef with mushrooms cooked in Guinness within a suet casing. We asked the waitress how big it was as there was an option to split the pie into two and pay a small supplement for extra veg. Just as we were considering the next table had done just that and the half pie was still massive so we ordered same. I have to compliment the chef on his/her creation, delicious thick gravy and loads of vegetables. Price was very reasonable at £8.99 each ... the full pie priced at £14.99. Reasonably priced wine and beers...Good value all in.

We hadn't reserved but they were very friendly and we got a table for our lunch. A very cosy Inn to eat at. The salmon (got a little dish with surplus sauce which was an added bonus) and the pie dish were very lovely and flavoursome. Following this, the bannoffie pie(pictured below) was amazing and filled the spot! There are a few vegetarian options and if you ask them there is always one extra veggie dish. We are lucky to have found this gem on our route to Newcastle. Hand sanitizer was to hand and tables were wiped down between guests. If you're heading on this route, we would definitely recommend stopping by.
